Chapter 1044
Melody couldnโt let Debra talk Theda out of it. If the Nichols Group ended up in Debraโs hands, they were doomed.
Meanwhile, Debra and Theda arrived at a quiet cafรฉ. Theda waved her hand and rented out the whole place. โI donโt like to discuss business with strangers around,โ she said. โI hope you donโt mind.โ
Before coming to meet Theda, Debra had learned that Theda was a rare genius. She had rejoined the Buchan family at 17 and started an extraordinary journey since then. Despite being raised by strangers and living in the countryside, she showed a talent for business that was beyond ordinary. She was famous in Wrastow City, and her shrewdness matched Juanโs.
Theda sat across from Debra, calmly sipping her coffee. โYou came to stop me from taking over the Nichols Group, didnโt you?โ
โNot really. I want to know if the medicine you gave Andrew works.โ
Theda looked up in surprise. โYou came to see me for Andrew? Arenโt you worried that Melody might hand over their company to me?โ
Instead of answering her question, Debra said, โAndrew wouldnโt take the medicine. I donโt know why, but Iโm willing to buy its patent if necessary.โ
Theda leaned over and studied her expression. โWanna know why Andrew refuses to take it?โ
Debra didnโt answer, and she continued, โIf he doesnโt appreciate my effort, I wonโt insist. Letโs talk about business instead.โ
Theda opened a file on her phone and said, โI know that Juan transferred all of his shares to you. Legally, youโre now the largest shareholder. But thereโs one problem: even though Juanโs 45% stake is the biggest, itโs not enough to control the company. He was in charge before because he had the support of Melody, who has 10% of the shares. Combined, the shares ensured his control. Melody could join forces with other shareholders and vote you out. Then she could buy back your shares and render you irrelevant.โ
Debra didnโt pick up the conversation. Instead, she asked, โIs Andrew refusing the medicine because he doesnโt want to side with you?โ
Theda was taken aback. โLooks like we arenโt on the same page.โ She had explained the situation in detail, but Debra was solely focused on Andrew.
โThank you for your time, Ms. Buchan,โ Debra said, standing up. โIโve learned what I want to know.โ
Theda quickly got up and called after her, โWait.โ
Debra stopped. โSomething wrong with the medicine?โ
