โSir, Mrs. Nichols is here,โ Joe whispered to Juan.
Juan wrinkled his brow, having already noticed Debra upon her arrival. Marion trailed behind, a sight that annoyed him. Debra and Erica walked hand in hand, chatting and laughing. From the corner of her eye, Debra caught sight of Sheila and the others; her face bore a playful smile.
Jordan had waited inside for a long time. His eyes lit up the moment Debra approached. He abandoned his wine and strode swiftly toward her.
โWhat took you so long?โ His tone held some impatience, but more joy.
Debra said, โAllow me to introduce my friend, Erica.โ
Jordan froze, while Erica teased, โWell, well, the kid from the Potter family has grown up.โ She moved as if to pinch Jordanโs ear, but he quickly blocked her hand. โIโm not a kid anymore.โ
Debra hadnโt expected they would know each other. Erica explained, โWhen we were little, the Potter and Houston families had business dealings. I was the oldest, and Randy wasโฆ Jordan was the youngest, and we often teased him.โ
Debra understood. Jordan blushed with embarrassment, eager to cover Ericaโs mouth. โThatโs nonsense.โ
Debra dined and laughed with them. Watching from a distance, Juan suffered.
โSir, are you not going over?โ
In truth, Debra was still Juanโs wife. It wouldnโt look good if he didnโt go.
Juan sat in a daze. โLetโsโฆ let her be.โ
Care and Mengy had been observing Debra. Seeing important figures and even Jordan around her, they quickly sensed something amiss.
Wendy frowned. โWasnโt this woman rumored to be an escort? Why are there so many important figures around her?โ
โYeah, one of the men seems to have chauffeured her in a luxury car before. The woman conversing with Jordan looks wealthy too.โ
โWhat are you talking about? I bet sheโs just a socialite here to socialize,โ Sheila interjected.
Care laid her eyes on Sheila suspiciously. But why was Jordan so fond of them and ever welcoming them in person?
Sheila spoke awkwardly, โAssad was justโฆ a tumorโฆโ
No one who used to believe Sheila unquestionably, now did. After all, it was Sheila who initially dismissed this unknown woman. Now Sheila had drastically changed her perspective. Who struck Sheila, and was that her boyfriendโs aunt?
They all saw Juan walking toward Sheila and her team; his expression was furtive. The setting seemed increasingly tense.
