Chapter 148
Marion helped Debra organize the documents on the desk. He casually said, "Neither." Debra nodded in agreement.
Lately, she had been busy with affairs concerning both Frazier Entertainment and the McKinney Group. With the recent opening of her own company, a great deal awaited her attention. Internships would only waste her time.
โIs it really okay not to intern?โ Erica asked. Having studied abroad, she wasnโt familiar with domestic internship procedures. But every time her friends mentioned it, they made it sound like writing the internship report was a painful ordeal.
Randy remarked, โWhat could possibly go wrong? Debra can just stamp a few documents. Writing a thesis wonโt be a problem for her.โ They all could provide Debra with the necessary stamps. If not for his overseas business, Marion could have stamped ten documents for Debra, not just one.
Suddenly, the phone on the table rang. Randy answered it. Caller ID showed it was the principal. Randy listened, responding with a series of โwhat,โ โwhy,โ and finally, โokay.โ After the call ended, Erica asked, โWhatโs going on?โ
โItโs school,โ Randy said with distress. โThey said this yearโs graduate internships will be centrally allocated by the school. Never heard of this before. Whatโs next, anti-cheating measures?โ
Chapter 148
Debra absentmindedly tapped on the keyboard. โIf they want to allocate, let them allocate. I can just slack off and play dumb until itโs over.โ This month was crucial, and she didnโt want to waste it on internship reports.
โJust hope youโre not assigned to the same company as Shelia,โ Randy muttered.
Debraโs fingers paused on the keyboard. โShelia?โ
โShelia?โ Erica echoed, surprised. โSince when did she join the graduate program?โ
โSheโs a transfer student. I just found out,โ Randy replied, waving his phone. If not for the principalโs call earlier, he wouldnโt have known that Juan had arranged for Shelia to enter the graduate program. This was nothing but underhanded dealing.
Debra appeared composed. After all, everyone in Seamar City knew how much Juan favored Shelia. To secure her entry into the graduate program, he had even broken established rules. It showed just how important Shelia was to him.
But Debra distinctly remembered Shelia planning to study abroad. โWhat made her change her mind?โ Debra thought about how things from her previous life had diverged. Facing such surprises, she was no longer shocked.
โPray I wonโt intern with her,โ she muttered.
A beep from her phone interrupted her thoughts. She checked it and saw a message from Juan:
[Grandma is coming tonight. Joe is on his way to pick you up.]
Debra abruptly stood up. Randy was startled, asking, โWhatโs wrong?โ
โJuan has sent someone to pick me up. I have to go back.โ Juan was naturally suspicious. Given the recent news about McKinney Groupโs listing and her earlier acquisition of the sewage area, he might suspect her of owning McKinney Group.
