Chapter 153

Debra extended a finger, saying, โ€œOne more thing, spread the word that Tracy will be there to enjoy the masquerade with everyone.โ€ Randy was puzzled, but Marion understood her intent. Debra fiddled with the badge in her hand. Over the past few months, she had made Tracyโ€™s name well known and shrouded in mystery. It was all for this day.

At the banquet, Juan watched the crowd with no trace of happiness on his face. Joe reported, โ€œIโ€™ve had people count. All the major business owners are here, except Tracy.โ€ Juan hummed indifferently. Joe asked hesitantly, โ€œSir, do you have concerns?โ€

Juan remained silent for a moment and asked, โ€œAny moves from the McKinney Group?โ€ Joe shook his head. โ€œThereโ€™s been no news of them making any moves. Perhaps they know theyโ€™ve offended us, so theyโ€™re keeping quiet.โ€

Juan frowned, not believing Tracy would just be a sitting duck. His current counterattack was a declaration of sovereignty over Seamar City, and surely Tracy knew that. If Tracy remained silent, his company would become a laughingstock in this circle the next day, and all his previous efforts would be in vain. He wouldnโ€™t be so foolish as to play a game that would backfire.

โ€œKeep a close watch on them and report to me when thereโ€™s any news.โ€

โ€œWill do.โ€ Joe was about to leave when Juan thought of something else. โ€œWhat about Debra?โ€ As his wife, she should be there tonight.

โ€œThe dress has been sent as per your instructions, but whether Mrs. Nichols will come is uncertain.โ€

Just then, the doors to the banquet hall opened. Juan looked up and saw a figure in wine-red. His eyes flickered with complex emotions, but upon seeing the face, he returned to his usual somber state. Shelia wore a burgundy evening gown, with a meticulously styled hairdo and makeup sheโ€™d gotten done at the salon. Her face lit up with a joyful smile when she saw Juan.

Shelia quickly approached and spoke shyly, โ€œAm I late?โ€

โ€œWhere did you get this dress from?โ€ She didnโ€™t receive any tenderness, only Juanโ€™s stern question. Shelia was stunned. โ€œDidnโ€™t you let Joe send it over?โ€

Juan glanced at Joe, who hurriedly denied it. He had entrusted the gown to the gatekeeper, mentioning it was for Debra.

โ€œWhat is going on? Isnโ€™t this dress meant for me?โ€ Tears welled up in Sheliaโ€™s eyes. Juan looked at Sheliaโ€™s elaborate makeup, and an image of Debra involuntarily flashed through his mind. He looked away, not comforting her as usual.
