Chapter 164
Jordan didn't understand Andrew's fascination with this masquerade. Debra was equally perplexed. Andrew rarely attended such events, let alone sending Jordan in his place. She wondered why he'd given Jordan the badge this time and instructed him to conceal his identity.
Erica sensed Debra's unease and whispered, "Stop overthinking. We need to hurry, or we'll be late."
Debra nodded, dismissing her concerns. There was no time to dwell on it. Their objective was to enter the venue with Jordan's help, and that was paramount.
Meanwhile, in his office, Juan thoughtfully examined the badge delivered earlier.
"Sir, the McKinney Group is hosting a masquerade tonight. Everyone must attend masked. It's said Tracy will be there. Do you want to go?" Joe reported.
Juan's brow furrowed. He'd thought there were no more surprises from Tracy, but this event proved otherwise.
"Haven't you found anything about Tracy's background yet?" he asked.
"Not yet. We haven't found any personal information on Tracy, not even a photo. His identity remains a mystery. I believe major business owners will attend, given the McKinney Group's sudden rise and the enigmatic boss behind it."
Joe paused. "This is a good opportunity to investigate him. If we don't go today, who knows when we'll have another chance?"
Juan's thoughts turned to the distinctive red hair that couldn't be mistaken. Debra, too, pondered this detail; it remained a significant clue.
An hour into the masquerade, the atmosphere buzzed with excitement. Guests indulged in several rounds of drinks. Debra observed the throngs. Despite the feud between the Wokine Stop and an unseen entity, many were in attendance.
Erica leaned in and whispered, "I'd love to see this Song."
Debra nodded. "Help me look after Jordan."
"We're in this together. Let's go!"
Under Erica's cover, Debra slipped into the crowd, her heart pounding with anticipation. Amidst the noisy throng and dazzling lights, she could barely see the path ahead. Suddenly, a large hand grabbed her arm.
