Chapter 196
Debra walked into the company, finding Juan deathly pale. Joe, just arrived, draped a cloak over Juan. โMr. Nichols, itโs too cold out here. Youโve drunk a lot. Letโs get you home quickly.โ
โShe knows everythingโฆโ โWhat?โ โShe already knows about me and Sheliaโฆโ
Juanโs voice was barely a whisper. He had thought that by cutting ties with Shelia, he could forget what happened that night. But now, it seemed that what was done couldnโt be undone.
โMr. Nichols, letโs leave firstโฆโ Joe felt sorry for Juan.
Juanโs expression darkened. โWhy is Shelia at Tyson Enterprises? Find out for me.โ โMr. Nichols, why not ask Ms. Miles first?โ โI donโt want anything to do with that woman anymore!โ
He blamed himself for being kind and helping Shelia. He had only felt pity for the girl and, considering her talent, had shown her extra care. But he never expected Shelia to have ulterior intentions.
Meanwhile, Debra had just entered the presidentโs office when she was suddenly embraced tightly. Surprised, she looked up to see Marion, recalling the scene where she had collapsed into Marionโs arms after being drugged. Blushing, Debra tried to break free, but Marion held her tighter. โWas Juan holding you like this downstairs?โ
Debra was taken aback. โYou saw that?โ She had looked around but hadnโt noticed Marion watching from the office window upstairs.
Marion chuckled softly. โLuckily you pushed him away. Otherwise, I would have gone down to give him a good scolding.โ
โMarion, heโs my husband in name only. Why would you hit him?โ โYouโre defending him?โ โIโm not defending himโฆโ โSo youโre implying I should steal you away.โ โMarion!โ
Blushing, Debra pushed Marion away. Marionโs eyes softened, showing affection. โI was just joking. Donโt be mad.โ โYou canโt joke like that again!โ โStealing someoneโs spouse isnโt a joke.โ Marion paused. โI mean it seriously.โ
Realizing Marion wasnโt joking, Debra tried to calm herself. โYou should ask for my opinion before stealing me away. I havenโt agreed to anything.โ โSo Iโm solemnly asking for your opinion now.โ
Marion leaned in, their breaths mingling, the quiet surroundings seemingly amplifying their heartbeats.
Chapter 19
โMs. Frazier, would you accept my pursuit?โ
Debraโs heart raced. Though she had been married to Juan, she had never been confessed to so seriously. Marion removed the family crest from his chest and placed it in Debraโs hand. โThis is the emblem of the Houston family head. By giving it to you, I entrust my life to you.โ
