Chapter 205
Debra dropped a stack of files onto Sheliaโs desk. Shelia looked up, her face paling to a ghostly white. โAbsolutely, youโre right,โ Liam said. Debra smiled with satisfaction. โThen itโs settled. Iโll get back to work. Mr. Tyson, please sign here.โ
โAlright, Iโll sign,โ Liam agreed hastily. He scrawled his signature without a thought to renewing the contract with Michael next year. Angering Debra was more dangerous than losing money.
Shelia stood rooted to the spot, her body trembling with barely contained rage. She watched as Debra sauntered back to her workstation, looking entirely at ease amidst the tension. Debraโs smile widened as she caught sight of Sheliaโs frustrated expression.
Truth be told, Shelia was not without her strengths. She was clever, academically gifted, and possessed a certain cunning. However, she was woefully ignorant of the unspoken rules governing their industry. She believed her association with Juan would grant her immunity, but she had failed to grasp the nuances of their social circle. Even with a powerful name behind her, she would never be accepted as a mistress.
It was a lesson Rosalie had learned the hard way. Despite her current status and Ralphโs genuine care, she remained an outcast in high society. After all, her position had not been earned honorably.

After signing the contract, Liam handed it back to Debra, who passed it to Ben without a glance. โTake the contract back. You can go now,โ she said.
โYes, madam,โ Ben replied, casting a withering look at Liam before turning to leave.
Debraโs phone buzzed, a message illuminating the screen.
Michael: [Howโs the situation?] Debra: [Good!]
Though Michael hadnโt explicitly stated how he would assist her, Debra had a general idea. Liam, still standing awkwardly beside her, awaited her next instructions. Debra simply said, โEveryone, please return to your posts. Itโs work time, and Iโm still an intern. Chill out.โ
Despite her reassurances, no one dared take her words lightly. Shelia, her voice like ice, snapped at the lingering workers. โWhy are you all standing around? Go back to work!โ
The employees scattered, quickly returning to their desks. Shelia, still fuming, retreated to her office. A while later, she was summoned to Liamโs office.
โMr. Tyson, anything I can do for you?โ
โMiss Miles, your abilities are exceptional, truly. But youโre overqualified for our company.โ
โAre you trying to get rid of me?โ Shelia quickly caught on to his implication.
Liam chose his words carefully. โOur company is small. We canโt accommodate two important figures, especially since Ms. Frazier is Mr. Nicholsโ wife. It might not be suitable for you to be here.โ
He was dancing around the issue, but the meaning was clear. Unfazed, Shelia took a step forward. โIf youโre worried about offending Debra, donโt be. Juan will divorce her soon, and Iโll put in a good word for you.โ
โThatโs not the problem, Miss Miles.โ Liam looked troubled. โMs. Frazier has the backing of her family. Itโs just been reported that Mr. Frazier has placed her in charge of all company affairs. I canโt afford to offend them.โ
Shelia staggered back, her composure crumbling. โWhat? That canโt be true.โ
