Chapter 213
Juan followed Debra up the staircase and into their bedroom. Lowering his voice, he asked, โWhy did you agree to let Grandma move in?โ
โShe insisted. What could I say?โ Debra replied. She didnโt want trouble. Even if she refused, Melody would find another reason to move in and might start suspecting something about their relationship. To avoid extra hassle, Debra pretended to agree without caring.
Juan was silent for a moment, digesting her words. โGrandma is just worried that you might not come home and could have other thoughtsโฆโ
Debra scoffed. โI know exactly what sheโs thinking. Sheโs doing this for your best interest. With the current state of affairs, our families must remain united.โ Their marriage ensured many joint ventures between the two families. They were partners who gained and lost together. If there were problems between their families now, both would suffer. Melody understood this perfectly, which is why she believed Debra wouldnโt stir up trouble at this critical moment.
Juan stared at Debra for a long time, unsure of what to say. Finally, he said, โIโll have someone move your things back tomorrow. Since Grandma is coming back, you wonโt be able to stay out.โ
โNo need. I wonโt be staying long,โ Debra replied. She was tired and wanted to rest. Juan instinctively reached out and grabbed her arm.
โWhat do you mean by that?โ
โDoes it still matter now? You know the answer.โ
โDoes it have to be this way?โ
โWhat do you think?โ
Her cold tone silenced him. Debra continued, โThough Iโm not blaming you, the fact that you crossed boundaries with Shelia during our marriage already gives me grounds to file for divorce. Even if it goes to court, I have my reasons. You should know how much youโd have to pay if we divorce.โ
Juan probably hadnโt thought she would ever ask for a divorce, so he hadnโt transferred his assets after they got married. Once they divorced, she would get a large settlement because he was at fault.
โBelieve it or not, that was just an accident. I cut off contact with Shelia right after that.โ
โAt Tyson Enterprises, you were protecting Shelia. Am I blind?โ
Juan wanted to explain that his actions that day were just to make her angry, but the words died in his throat.
Debra shook her head, her voice filled with finality. โForget it. Your favoritism towards Shelia has changed nothing. No matter what reasons you come up with to convince me, Iโm set on divorcing you.โ
Chapter 213 (continued)
โThree months.โ
โWhat?โ
โGive me three months. Iโll prove to you that you are the only one in my heart.โ
โItโs not necessary.โ
โIf, after three months, I havenโt proven myself or moved you, I willingly hand over everything of the Nichols family to you.โ
Debra was stunned. Juan nervously held her shoulders, his grip firm yet gentle. โIโm willing to risk everything. Just give me these three months. If you still refuse, Iโll agree to the divorce and give up all the Nichols familyโs assets to you.โ
The seriousness on his face was something she had never seen before. He wasnโt joking.
โAnything got into you?โ she said.
