Chapter 236
Juan, concerned that Debra might misinterpret his intentions, explained, โTaking over your family business isnโt a simple matter. I justโฆโ
โI know what you mean,โ Debra interjected, a smile playing on her lips, though her eyes held no warmth. โI was just teasing you. Donโt take it seriously.โ
She was more than glad to meet those insiders; knowing more people meant more opportunities. Juan nodded, relieved that she understood his perspective.
โJoe is waiting downstairs for us.โ
He extended a hand to Debra, but she didnโt take it. Instead, she said, โYou go ahead. Send me the location.โ
โNot together?โ
โI think Iโll change into something else,โ Debra said, gesturing to her simple attire. She hadnโt even applied makeup before leaving that day.
Juan chuckled, his eyes sweeping over her. โYou look good in anything. No need to dress up.โ
โCanโt do that,โ Debra insisted. โAfter all, Iโm meeting clients. I should look presentable to complement your handsome appearance.โ
A faint smile appeared on Juanโs face. โAlright, Iโll have Joe drive you.โ
โNo need,โ Debra declined firmly. โI can manage.โ
Juan watched her for a moment, then smiled lightly. โBe careful on your way.โ
โOkay.โ
She turned and left the office, leaving Juan alone with his thoughts. Downstairs, she called Leanna.
โHas Shelia gone back home?โ
โSheโs already left. Do you want her back?โ
โArrange a meeting for her. Iโll send you the location shortly.โ
โBut itโs getting so late.โ
โDonโt worry, sheโll go.โ Shelia would surely appear promptly wherever Juan was.
Debra forwarded the restaurant address Juan had sent to Leanna.
Leanna: [What if Shelia doesnโt go?] Debra: [Casually mention to her that the CEO of Nichols Group will also be at this restaurant.]
Leanna: [Understood, Ms. Frazier.]
Ending the conversation, Debra returned to the Nichols residence. Hester opened the door with a cheerful smile, but her expression faltered when she saw only Debra.
โMadam, didnโt Juan come back with you?โ
โHe didnโt,โ Debra said, studying Hesterโs reaction. โYou seem unhappy?โ
Hester immediately backtracked. โNo, Madam, youโre mistaken. I was just asking casually.โ
โIs that so? I was just speaking casually too. Donโt mind,โ Debra said with a smile. โIโve come back to change clothes and freshen up a bit.โ
โMadam, are you going out?โ
โYes, Juan wants to take me to the Sapphire Hotel for dinner, so I thought Iโd dress up.โ
Hesterโs eyes sparkled with interest. Debra smiled faintly, noting her response.
โGo ahead with your work. Iโll go upstairs.โ
โAlright.โ
As soon as Debra was out of sight, Hester hurriedly untied her apron and walked towards her room.
