Chapter 254

In response to Sheliaโ€™s outburst, the voice on the other end of the phone sneered, โ€œThe one weโ€™ve taken is Juanโ€™s wife. The ransom we can demand from him is far higher than what youโ€™d pay for a mere hit job. Thanks to the address you provided, we found Juanโ€™s home.โ€

Shelia paled at his words. The man added, โ€œBut donโ€™t you worry; if Juan pays the ransom, weโ€™ll clean up this mess for you. If he doesnโ€™t, weโ€™ll still handle it. Just a matter of time.โ€

โ€œYou canโ€™t do this,โ€ Shelia protested. โ€œOnce you contact Juan, heโ€™ll stop at nothing to find out who you are, and then Iโ€™ll be exposed.โ€ She knew how resourceful Juan was. It wouldnโ€™t take him long to figure out who the kidnappers were, and heโ€™d certainly trace it back to her. Even if Debra died, her dream of entering high society would be shattered.

โ€œThatโ€™s not our problem,โ€ the man snorted. โ€œWeโ€™re just doing our job and making a little extra on the side.โ€

โ€œNo, how can you do this?โ€ Shelia shouted frantically, but the line went dead. She trembled, expecting doom.

Clarissa asked anxiously, โ€œWhatโ€™s wrong? What are we going to do?โ€

Shelia whirled around, her eyes bloodshot. โ€œWhat kind of people did you hire? Theyโ€™re so unreliable!โ€

โ€œDonโ€™t panic,โ€ Clarissa tried to soothe her. โ€œDebraโ€™s going to die sooner or later. As long as Juan doesnโ€™t trace it back to you, everything will be fine.โ€

โ€œThatโ€™s your wishful thinking!โ€ Shelia said, gritting her teeth. โ€œAny delay will make things worse. Those three men couldnโ€™t really keep Juan at bay. Iโ€™m afraid that Debra will come back alive, and they will get caught and spill everything.โ€

Those people were desperate, and for money, they might do anything, even if it meant exposing her. She had to come up with a plan. She needed to kill Debra and avoid any future problems. With that thought in mind, she rushed out of the room.

Debra slowly regained consciousness. She opened her eyes, felt a slight swaying motion, and saw various items scattered around. As her vision cleared, she realized she was in a cabin.

โ€œWhat if that woman was speaking the truth? What if Juan can really track us down? What then?โ€

โ€œOnce we get the money, weโ€™ll be far away. Whoโ€™s going to find us?โ€

โ€œTrue.โ€

Debra listened to the three menโ€™s conversation. With sharp knives in their hands, they looked like stowaways from another country. Such weapons were banned in Seamar City. Debra frowned, trying to stay calm. โ€˜Is the woman theyโ€™re talking about Hester? No, it canโ€™t be her. Her clumsy, self-directed kidnapping wouldnโ€™t have led her to such dangerous men. These men are clearly desperate and dangerous.โ€™

โ€œBoss, sheโ€™s awake.โ€

Debra had no intention of feigning unconsciousness. Staying that way could lead to unpredictable situations. The leader, upon hearing his accomplice, approached Debra with a knife and roughly tore the tape from her mouth.

Debra didnโ€™t scream or make a sound, her calm demeanor surprising the leader.
