Chapter 257
In the stillness of the night, Juan returned home and burst open the door. The commotion roused Melody from her sleep. With Hester's assistance, she made her way to the living room, where she saw a gloomy Juan. She wrinkled her brows and asked, โIs anything wrong?โ
โYou come over here!โ Juan stepped forward and grabbed Hester roughly. His furious look caused her to gasp in fear. โJuan, what are you doing?โ
โDonโt call me that!โ Juan snapped. โHow could you be so malicious? Did you replace that $10 billion?โ
Hester desperately shook her head. โIt has nothing to do with me. Please, you must believe me.โ
โBelieve you?โ Juan narrowed his eyes. โDebra fell into the sea, and sheโs still missing. If sheโs dead, Iโll make your family pay.โ
Hesterโs face turned ashen, and Melody stepped in. โEnough!โ Taking a deep breath, she continued, โThis has nothing to do with Hester. She didnโt have the authority to change the money. It was my decision.โ
Juan staggered back, as if struck by an unseen force. โGrandma, what are you saying?โ
Melodyโs expression was cold and unyielding. โYouโre silly. Even if Debra is from the Frazier family and has helped us, sheโs not worth $10 billion. Youโre just blinded by love. As the president of Nichols Group, you must place the interests of the company above just one woman.โ
Juanโs voice was hoarse with emotion. โGrandma, you donโt understand how important Debra is to me.โ
โOf course, I do. You were once obsessed with Sheila, clashing with me repeatedly for her. And now?โ Melody scoffed, sitting down on the sofa. โWhen your infatuation fades, you wonโt care about Debra anymore. Iโm only looking out for you.โ
โLooking out for me?โ Juan took a step back, his face shifting from despair to cold determination. He had always been calm and collected, but the thought of losing Debra sent him spiraling. The Nichols family had taught him to keep his emotions in check, and he had been practicing that for years. But now, he only wanted Debra.
โGrandma, if anything happens to Debra, I wonโt live either,โ he declared.
Melodyโs frown deepened. โAre you threatening me?โ
Juanโs voice turned colder still. โYou should know I mean what I say.โ
โYouโฆโ Melody was irritated.
Turning to Joe, Juan ordered, โMobilize everyone to search for Debra, alive or dead.โ
โYes, sir.โ
As Juan turned to leave, Melody called after him. โJuan! Stop right there. Come back!โ But he didnโt look back.
Melody was furious. โThis is outrageous! Debra is such a troublemaker. I shouldnโt have let her marry into the Nichols family.โ
