Chapter 284

Ralph chimed in, โ€œThatโ€™s right. Mr. Nichols, your trip here is unnecessary. Debra isnโ€™t going anywhere with you.โ€

โ€œHoney,โ€ Rosalie interjected, gently tugging at Ralphโ€™s sleeve, โ€œmarital issues should be resolved between the couple themselves. Why are you getting involved?โ€

She turned to Juan, a polite smile fixed on her face. โ€œMr. Nichols, youโ€™ve come all this way to pick up our Debra at this late hour. It shows your devotion. Debra, donโ€™t be angry anymore. Just go back with Mr. Nichols.โ€

She winked at Debra, urging her compliance. Debra, however, seemed to ignore her, feigning indifference.

Juan stepped closer to Debra, lowering himself to her level. His eyes were filled with genuine affection. โ€œIโ€™ve sent Sheila to prison.โ€

Debra met his gaze, her voice calm and composed. โ€œAre you sharing this with me to prove something?โ€

โ€œI know everything she did,โ€ Juan continued, eager to explain. โ€œShe killed her friend and stole her identity. My relationship with her was a mistake from the start. Debra, I will not fail you again. That night, Sheila drugged me, and in my intoxicated state, I mistook her for you.โ€

โ€œThatโ€™s enough,โ€ Debra interrupted. โ€œI have no interest in what transpired between you two. You donโ€™t need to confess your wrongdoings to me. After all, weโ€™ve already established that this is merely a business marriage. I couldnโ€™t care less about your love affairs.โ€

Juan was left speechless, a lump forming in his throat. So, Debra has never cared, not from the beginning, nor now.

The frosty atmosphere made Rosalie anxious. She quickly stepped forward, nudging Debra. โ€œDebra, have you lost your senses? Mr. Nichols has ended things with that woman. Why are you still being so stubborn? Listen to me and go back with him. Donโ€™t upset him.โ€

Debra remained unmoved. Rosalie, feeling the pressure of the situation, turned to Juan. โ€œMr. Nichols, Debra just has a bit of a temper. Donโ€™t worry, Iโ€™ll handle this. She will go back with you tonight.โ€

Debra slammed her hand against the back of the chair, her sharp gaze sweeping over Rosalie, causing her to recoil. โ€œAre you in charge of this house? Since when?โ€

Rosalie shrank back, her voice weak. โ€œWell, I am an elder. Iโ€™m only doing this for your happiness. Offending Mr. Nichols isnโ€™t good for you.โ€

โ€œI call you aunt because of your seniority, but that doesnโ€™t mean you can make decisions for me. Do you understand?โ€ Debra interrupted coldly.

โ€œYes, I understand,โ€ Rosalie conceded, albeit unwillingly. After all, Debra was the eldest daughter of the Frazier family and the current head of the household. The Frazier family rules were strict, and Rosalie, a second wife with little authority, could only defer to Debra.

โ€œThis is how it is, Mr. Nichols,โ€ Debra declared, standing her ground. โ€œMy family is not any less significant than yours. Iโ€™m content living here. When youโ€™re ready to sign the divorce agreement, come back and find me.โ€

She stood, preparing to leave. But Juan reached out to grab her arm, his eyes pleading. โ€œDebra, donโ€™t go.โ€

Ralph stepped forward. โ€œJuan, please conduct yourself appropriately at my house.โ€
