Chapter 40

Colleen pulled Debra into the car and drove them to a nearby nightclub. Debra stepped out and was led to a reserved private room. Compared to the noise outside, the room was relatively quiet. As soon as the door opened, Debra saw Jordan sitting on the sofa. He was dressed in punk style, his gaze icy. His fierce appearance enhanced his wild aura. The moment she had seen that car earlier, Debra realized this was Jordan's setup. Colleen left without saying anything. Now it was just Debra and Jordan in the room.

โ€œMr. Jordan Potter, is it necessary to meet me here?โ€ Debra turned to leave, but the door was locked. It didnโ€™t scare her, though. Since she was Juanโ€™s wife, Jordan wouldnโ€™t dare to do anything to her, which was why she had come alone.

โ€œItโ€™s safe here. No one will notice.โ€

โ€œMeeting Juanโ€™s newlywed wife late at night could become scandalous news for both families.โ€

Debra shrugged. โ€œIโ€™m already notorious, so a little more infamy doesnโ€™t matter to me. But if your brother finds out about this, wonโ€™t he skin you alive?โ€ Debra knew Jordanโ€™s weakness well.

Jordan narrowed his eyes, approaching Debra until his broad shadow enveloped her. Leaning in, he said, his voice magnetic, and his tone tantalizingly ambiguous, โ€œNo one can deceive me. Youโ€™re the first one.โ€

Debra raised an eyebrow. โ€œThatโ€™s quite an accusation. When have I deceived you?โ€

โ€œFrom the first time we met, it was intentional, wasnโ€™t it?โ€ Jordan said.

โ€œOn my honor, it wasnโ€™t intentional,โ€ Debra said innocently. โ€œDo you suffer from paranoia?โ€

โ€œDonโ€™t play dumb. I can tell when someone lies.โ€ Jordan chuckled, adding, โ€œBut I never expected you to be Juanโ€™s wife.โ€

โ€œIโ€™m Juanโ€™s wife, a fact known throughout Seamar City. Perhaps youโ€™re the only one unaware,โ€ Debra replied.

Jordan frowned. He had just returned from abroad and wasnโ€™t well-informed about domestic affairs in the past year. He wasnโ€™t interested in the socialite circle either, hence his unfamiliarity with Debraโ€™s name.

โ€œAlright, Mr. Jordan Potter, stop your fantasies. I have no ulterior motives towards you. Even if I do, it would be towards your brother.โ€ Everyone knew that Andrew held absolute power in the Potter family, while Jordan was merely a frivolous playboy.

โ€œStop!โ€ Jordan gripped her wrist. Debraโ€™s casual remark had triggered Jordanโ€™s temper.

โ€œYou mean Iโ€™m not as good as Andrew?โ€ he asked.

โ€œWhat do you think?โ€ Debra asked back.

His grip tightened, but he knew she was speaking the truth. Suddenly, he laughed derisively. โ€œJuan and my family have always been at odds. If I did something to you today, could you still bear the title of Mrs. Nichols?โ€
