Chapter 40
Colleen pulled Debra into the car and drove them to a nearby nightclub. Debra stepped out and was led to a reserved private room. Compared to the noise outside, the room was relatively quiet. As soon as the door opened, Debra saw Jordan sitting on the sofa. He was dressed in punk style, his gaze icy. His fierce appearance enhanced his wild aura. The moment she had seen that car earlier, Debra realized this was Jordan's setup. Colleen left without saying anything. Now it was just Debra and Jordan in the room.

โMr. Jordan Potter, is it necessary to meet me here?โ Debra turned to leave, but the door was locked. It didnโt scare her, though. Since she was Juanโs wife, Jordan wouldnโt dare to do anything to her, which was why she had come alone.
โItโs safe here. No one will notice.โ
โMeeting Juanโs newlywed wife late at night could become scandalous news for both families.โ
Debra shrugged. โIโm already notorious, so a little more infamy doesnโt matter to me. But if your brother finds out about this, wonโt he skin you alive?โ Debra knew Jordanโs weakness well.
Jordan narrowed his eyes, approaching Debra until his broad shadow enveloped her. Leaning in, he said, his voice magnetic, and his tone tantalizingly ambiguous, โNo one can deceive me. Youโre the first one.โ
Debra raised an eyebrow. โThatโs quite an accusation. When have I deceived you?โ
โFrom the first time we met, it was intentional, wasnโt it?โ Jordan said.
โOn my honor, it wasnโt intentional,โ Debra said innocently. โDo you suffer from paranoia?โ
โDonโt play dumb. I can tell when someone lies.โ Jordan chuckled, adding, โBut I never expected you to be Juanโs wife.โ
โIโm Juanโs wife, a fact known throughout Seamar City. Perhaps youโre the only one unaware,โ Debra replied.
Jordan frowned. He had just returned from abroad and wasnโt well-informed about domestic affairs in the past year. He wasnโt interested in the socialite circle either, hence his unfamiliarity with Debraโs name.
โAlright, Mr. Jordan Potter, stop your fantasies. I have no ulterior motives towards you. Even if I do, it would be towards your brother.โ Everyone knew that Andrew held absolute power in the Potter family, while Jordan was merely a frivolous playboy.
โStop!โ Jordan gripped her wrist. Debraโs casual remark had triggered Jordanโs temper.
โYou mean Iโm not as good as Andrew?โ he asked.
โWhat do you think?โ Debra asked back.
His grip tightened, but he knew she was speaking the truth. Suddenly, he laughed derisively. โJuan and my family have always been at odds. If I did something to you today, could you still bear the title of Mrs. Nichols?โ
