Chapter 415

Debra strode out of the mall. A sense of defeat washed over Juan, and he rubbed his temples. โ€œWho leaked the news?โ€ he demanded.

โ€œIt seems it was Miss Vargas,โ€ Joe said hesitantly. He had arranged everything personallyโ€”the venue, the gifts, the party. Only a handful of people from the company knew. He wondered how Hester got wind of it.

Juanโ€™s gaze remained fixed on Debraโ€™s disappearing form. โ€œDo you think Iโ€™ve lost her, Joe?โ€

โ€œSirโ€ฆโ€ Juan hadnโ€™t seen any affection left in Debra. And when she spoke about that dream, her eyes held a world of bitterness and resignation.

Outside the mall, Debra cursed under her breath. Sheโ€™d forgotten to bring her car, and now she was stranded in the busiest part of Seamar City. Suddenly, a sleek black Porsche pulled up in front of her. The window rolled down, revealing Marionโ€™s grinning face. โ€œGet in.โ€

Debra quickly slid into the passenger seat, her eyes meeting Marionโ€™s. โ€œHow did you know I was here?โ€

Marion didnโ€™t answer. Instead, he reached out and turned on the radio. The news blared out, filling the car.

โ€œBreaking news: Juan Nichols, CEO of Nichols Group, pulled out all the stops to celebrate his soon-to-be-ex-wifeโ€™s birthday in the heart of the city.โ€

Debra chuckled, shaking her head. โ€œNews travels fast. Iโ€™m sure weโ€™ll be hearing about Melody causing a scene any minute now.โ€

โ€œDid she provoke you?โ€ Marion asked, raising an eyebrow.

Debra shrugged. โ€œNot in the slightest. Her words didnโ€™t bother me at all.โ€

A faint smile tugged at the corners of Marionโ€™s mouth. โ€œBuckle up. Iโ€™m taking you somewhere.โ€

โ€œAlright,โ€ Debra agreed, settling back into her seat.

Erica and Randy rushed into the mall, only to find the cleaning crew already at work. They exchanged a look, and Randy asked one of the staff, โ€œMadam, is it over?โ€

The woman nodded. โ€œYouโ€™re late. It ended half an hour ago.โ€

โ€œItโ€™s all your fault,โ€ Erica hissed, kicking Randy in the shin. โ€œI told you to drive faster.โ€

Randy yelped, rubbing his leg. โ€œHow is this my fault? We were only half an hour late. Unless you expected me to sprout wings and fly us here, we were always going to be late.โ€

โ€œYou dare talk back now, huh?โ€ She pulled Randyโ€™s ear and said, โ€œWhat if Juan stole Debra away? Iโ€ฆโ€

The cleaning lady chimed in, โ€œOh, he didnโ€™t take anyone. Mrs. Nichols Sr. showed up and caused quite the scene. We had to clean up here because of her.โ€

Erica and Randyโ€™s faces lit up, their earlier argument forgotten.

โ€œMrs. Nichols Sr.?โ€

โ€œShe came to stir things up?โ€

โ€œGreat!โ€

They shared a look, their minds made up. โ€œLetโ€™s find Marion immediately. We need to book a restaurant for Debra.โ€

โ€œDonโ€™t worry, Iโ€™ll arrange a presidential suite. Weโ€™ll make sure things get done.โ€

โ€œLetโ€™s get to it.โ€

They split up, each with a task in mind. Their shared goal was to give Debra the birthday she deserved.

In the car, Debra, exhausted from exploring the amusement park, leaned her head against the window, her eyes fluttering closed.
