Chapter 418
Ericaโs voice blared through the phone, loud enough for Marion to hear. Debraโs cheeks flushed pink as she glanced at him, whispering into the receiver, โDid he arrange a dinner for me?โ
โYep, itโs all set up at the Royal Grand Hotel. Weโre just missing the guest of honor. Randy and I are en route to pick you up. Where are you?โ Erica chirped.
Debra cupped her hand over the phone and mouthed to Marion, โDid you plan something at the Royal Grand Hotel?โ He shook his head, and realization dawned on Debra. Erica and Randy were behind this surprise.
โIs Marion with you?โ Debra asked, suppressing a laugh.
Erica stammered, โOf course. Heโs waiting at the hotel.โ
โBut if Marionโs with you,โ Debra said, grinning, โthen whoโs sitting next to me?โ
There was a pause, then a burst of noise from the other end. Erica and Randy exclaimed in unison, โWhat? Youโre with him?โ
Debra heard the screech of brakes, followed by Randyโs exasperated voice. โWhy didnโt you tell us you were together? I dropped a small fortune on that hotel. Come back now.โ
โYeah, itโs inconsiderate not to include us on your birthday,โ Erica echoed. Deep down, she was thrilled, not expecting Marion to have such a surprise planned.
โWe should be at the portโฆโ
Before Debra could finish, Marion took the phone and said, โWeโre not coming back tonight. You guys have fun.โ Then he hung up, leaving Erica and Randy in stunned silence.
After a while, Randy snapped out of it and asked, โWhat does Marion mean by that?โ
โHe said theyโre not coming back tonight.โ
โSo, what are they doing at the port?โ
โCould it beโฆโ
Chapter 416
Erica covered her mouth. Realization hit her like a tornado. โTheir first date goes wild!โ
โI donโt agree. This is going too fast. You need to drive to the port right now. I want to see whatโs happening.โ
โWhat do you mean by going too fast?โ Randy knew Erica was curious, but he was even more eager to find out. He started the car, ignoring the money spent, and headed straight to the port.
Debra laughed, taking the phone back.
โWhy did you hang up on them?โ
โThey were too loud.โ
He took her hand, leading her up the stairs to the open-air deck. The moon hung low in the sky, casting a silvery glow over the dark ocean. The deck was beautifully lit, and every amenity was in place. Debra wrapped herself in a blanket and sat down as Marion handed her a cup of warm milk.
โFeeling cold?โ
โNot really.โ
โI wanted to bring you here in the summer. Itโs a bit late now, butโฆโ
โSummer? And you own this ship?โ
โI did.โ
Debra was surprised. She thought Marion had only rented the ship.
