Chapter 431

They were going to participate in a show, and offending the investors now was akin to shooting themselves in the foot. Gritting their teeth, the trainees began the grueling run. Debra shot a cold glance at Edgar, aware that he was trying to sabotage her and possibly Oscar too. His tactics were as transparent as they were nauseating.

Intentionally falling behind, Oscar leaned close to her and said, โ€œSlow down. Time isnโ€™t an issue; keeping your breath steady is most important.โ€ Without waiting for her to respond, he added, โ€œIโ€™ll be here waiting for you at 8:30 tonight.โ€ Then he picked up his pace and ran ahead. Freya watched the exchange, her fists clenched in anger.

After an hour of relentless running, they barely managed to finish 30 laps. The boys were holding up, but the girls were struggling. Despite the winter chill, sweat drenched their bodies. Their makeup was smudged, but they couldnโ€™t wipe their faces. It was simply tormenting.

Edgar observed their exhaustion with a detached air. โ€œContinue with frog jumps for ten laps.โ€

โ€œWhat?โ€ Ashley was stunned. Their energy had run out, and frog jumping for ten laps felt like a death sentence. Debra frowned, her eyes narrowing as she took in Edgarโ€™s smug demeanor.

Edgar added meaningfully, โ€œOh, Ms. Frazier sprained her ankle. Running 30 laps was already tough for her. Please come sit next to me and help supervise the training.โ€

He was implying that Debraโ€™s ankle was fine and that she simply didnโ€™t want to dance. He was trying to shift the blame onto her.

The girls started to complain among themselves.

โ€œDebra, youโ€™re unwilling to dance and youโ€™re putting us in this position.โ€ โ€œItโ€™s just dancing, not like itโ€™s a big deal. Why wouldnโ€™t you agree?โ€ โ€œStop pretending. Arenโ€™t you cozying up to your sponsors every night?โ€

Before Debra could defend herself, Oscar shouted, โ€œWhat are the boys doing? Mr. Odom said frog jumps. Get ready.โ€ The boys snapped to attention, following his command without question. Seeing the boys start their frog jumps, Freya had no choice but to rally the girls. โ€œGirls, frog jumps.โ€

Debra walked straight up to Edgar, sulking. โ€œWhat do you want?โ€

Edgar shrugged dismissively. โ€œNothing much, just not in a good mood. When Iโ€™m in a bad mood, I like to make others suffer. If you can make me feel better, maybe Iโ€™ll let them stop.โ€

It was almost evening, and with such high-intensity training all day, everyone was at risk of falling sick by tomorrow. The cold winter wind made it easy to catch a chill, and with the new show coming up, the last thing they needed was a group of ill trainees.

Debra rolled up her sleeves, her eyes flashing with determination. โ€œFine! Mr. Odom, are you interested in dancing a number with me?โ€

Chace snorted, โ€œWho are you to dance with Mr. Odom?โ€

Edgar raised a hand, silencing the secretary. Standing up, he asked, โ€œWhat are we dancing?โ€
