Chapter 447
Debra answered the phone to hear Hannah's anxious voice. โThe showโs this afternoon. Did something happen? Should I send someone to pick you up?โ
Debra glanced at Marion, noticing his amused smile. She quickly looked away, feeling a blush rise on her cheeks.
โNo need. I just got up late,โ she said, striving to keep her voice steady. โIโll be there soon.โ
Turning to Marion, she said, โIโm ready. Thereโs a show today, and I need to go.โ
โIโll give you a ride,โ Marion offered.
Seeing Debra struggle to rise, he scooped her up in a bridal carry.
When Debra arrived at Potter Entertainment, she found all the trainees ready to leave. In the lobby, Eve led the group, her voice dripping with disdain. โActing all high and mighty, making us wait for you.โ
Hannah frowned and whispered to Debra, โThe show tonight requires preparation this afternoon. Why are you so late?โ
Debra whispered back, โDonโt ask now. Just take them.โ
Hannah nodded. Debra exchanged a glance with Oscar, who deliberately slowed his pace, allowing the others to board the bus first. He leaned in, whispering, โSince you want Edgar to lose, you canโt be in this show.โ His intuition told him Debra had a plan. Debra smiled slightly, acknowledging his perception.
โYouโre smart.โ
โWhatโs your plan? At least let me know.โ
โHave you persuaded the male trainees?โ
โYes.โ
Oscar was well-liked among the male trainees. Convincing them to leave wasnโt difficult for him. As long as Debra handled the breach of contract issues, they could all leave together.
Debra nodded, satisfied. โAlright, just pretend you know the procedure.โ
Oscar didnโt push further. Nearby, Tomas called out, โOscar, letโs go.โ Oscar hesitated before boarding the bus. Hannah, about to board another vehicle, noticed Debra hadnโt moved.
โDo you want a ride with me?โ
โNo, Iโm not going to the show.โ
Hannahโs eyes widened. They were supposed to be in a talent show, and theyโd already lost a strong contestant like Freya. Debraโs absence was a major blow.
โWhy didnโt you tell me earlier?โ Hannah asked, pulling out her phone. โI need to discuss this with Mr. Andrew Potter.โ
Debra showed Hannah the chat record with Andrew from the previous day. โJust follow my instructions.โ
Hannah put her phone away, her expression serious. โUnderstood, Ms. Frazier.โ
The trainees arrived at the showโs makeup room. The makeup artists, professionals hired for the show, were far better than what they were used to. Ashley occasionally glanced at the door, grumbling, โWhy hasnโt Debra arrived yet? Is she not participating?โ
The others offered their opinions.
โItโs fine if she doesnโt come. Itโs a talent show, and fewer competitors are better.โ
โBut weโre a team. If Debra doesnโt show up, weโll have one less person. What if the stage performance suffers and we get passed over?โ
