Chapter 464

โ€œYes.โ€ Joe swiftly turned the car around. Meanwhile, the assembled guests buzzed with excitement over the eveningโ€™s events. Melody seized the opportunity to incite public anger.

โ€œEveryone in Seamar City knows how Debra used to fawn over Juan. Now theyโ€™re divorcing,โ€ she stated, โ€œand she doesnโ€™t want to lose her title. So, she pushed Shelia down the stairs. Itโ€™s simply despicable.โ€ The crowd murmured in agreement.

โ€œI heard Debra was pursuing Mr. Nichols. She could have pushed Shelia out of jealousy.โ€

โ€œI think I saw Debra push Shelia. That was brutal!โ€

โ€œWho would risk her childโ€™s life? I bet it was Debra.โ€

โ€œDebra is broke, and now sheโ€™s killed Mr. Nicholsโ€™ child. Both families wonโ€™t let her get away with this. Sheโ€™s done for.โ€

The murmurs continued, the atmosphere thick with tension and speculation. Suddenly, Edgarโ€™s phone rang. After a brief call, he hung up and spoke in a grave tone, โ€œThe child is gone.โ€

Melody stumbled back, clutching her chest as if about to faint. Declan was speechless.

โ€œDebra, youโ€™re a murderer!โ€

Under the weight of the accusations, Pedro approached Debra and asked, โ€œMs. Frazier, do you have any evidence to prove you didnโ€™t do it?โ€

Melody angrily interjected, โ€œMr. Hardy, what do you mean by that? Are you protecting Debra?โ€

Declan echoed her words. โ€œMy daughter lost her child because of Debra. So many witnesses saw it. Are you implying my daughter is falsely accusing Debra?โ€

Pedro, bracing himself against the barrage of accusations, replied, โ€œThatโ€™s not what I meant. We need to investigate this thoroughly. We canโ€™t accuse an innocent person. If this is a misunderstandingโ€ฆโ€

Melody cut him off. โ€œMisunderstanding? Debra killed my great-grandson. What misunderstanding could there be? You must catch the killer and bring her to justice. Otherwise, I will make sure your police station will not have a momentโ€™s peace.โ€

Debra, who had been silently observing, finally spoke. โ€œMelody, why are you so eager to convict me? I never said I didnโ€™t have evidence.โ€

Edgar furrowed his brow, and Melody sneered, โ€œWhat evidence could you possibly have?โ€

Debra replied meaningfully, โ€œSince Melody made such a fuss about inviting me here, I naturally prepared myself.โ€

Melody was puzzled. โ€œWhat are you trying to say?โ€

Debra produced a small voice recorder and pressed play. The recording played:

โ€œDebraโ€ฆโ€

โ€œI expected to see Juan. Miss Blair, why did you call me here in his name? What is it you want to discuss?โ€

โ€œDebra, I know youโ€™re upset about this. I called you here to tell youโ€ฆโ€

โ€œI wanted to tell you to die.โ€

The final line echoed through the room, sending a chill down the spines of the assembled guests.
