Chapter 503
โHave you ever stopped to think about the consequences of leaving evidence behind? You promised me you wouldnโt take these risks again,โ Debra said.
Today, Marion had arrived with a motley crew of hardened men sheโd never seen before. She knew from her past life that Marion had an ulterior motive for coming to Seamar City. His sights were set on Juan, the biggest obstacle between him and total control of the city.
She hadnโt expected so many twists and turns this time, but Marionโs goal remained steadfast, and his forces were more formidable than ever. If any of these men were caught, Marion could be doomed. She couldnโt bear the thought.
She looked at Marion, waiting for an explanation, but he remained silent as a statue.
โYou have other business in Seamar City, donโt you?โ she pressed.
Marion finally nodded. โYes.โ
Debraโs voice grew colder, her frustration bubbling to the surface. โYouโve already conquered overseas, yet youโre still here, vying for Seamar City. Edgar controls everything in Booton, but heโs been eyeing Seamar City for years. Whatโs so special about this place? Is it about wealth or status?โ
Marion stayed silent. Debra sighed, her voice tinged with resignation. โFine. If you wonโt tell me, I wonโt pry. I donโt have ambitions to rule Seamar City. I just want to keep my family safe and preserve my fatherโs legacy.โ Her voice grew firmer, her resolve unshakable. โBut there are too many unknown dangers surrounding you. I think itโs time we end this.โ
Marionโs grip on her arm tightened, his voice urgent. โGive me more time. I can handle it.โ
Debra shook her head. โIโve given you enough time. You promised me a stable future, remember? You said youโd cut ties with your past, but you broke that promise.โ
Having lived a second life, she knew what she wanted. It was something Marion couldnโt provide.
She stepped into the elevator, her heart heavy with her decision. Just then, her phone rang. An unknown number flashed on the screen. She hesitated before answering, only to hear Andrewโs voice on the other end.
โWhen you exit the hospital, look to your left.โ
Confused, she stepped out of the elevator and made her way to the hospital entrance. Sure enough, a sleek black Maybach was parked to her left, the rear window rolling down to reveal Andrewโs pale face.
โMr. Andrew Potter, how many phone numbers do you have?โ she asked. Sheโd lost count of how many sheโd saved in her contacts. Andrew smiled faintly, his voice as gentle and refined as ever.
โGet in.โ
She took a deep breath and slid into the backseat. The late-night streets were quiet.
She looked out the window and said, โJust drop me off at the apartment.โ
โI never said I was taking you home.โ
โWhat?โ
Debra turned to him, her eyes wide with realization. Sheโd gotten into the car without asking any questions, and now she was at Andrewโs mercy.
Andrew instructed the driver, โDavid, pull over.โ
โYes, sir.โ
The car glided to a stop at the side of the road. The night wind was chilly, and Debra shivered as she stepped out of the car. Andrew took off his coat and draped it over her shoulders.
โCome with me.โ
