Chapter 510

Andrewโ€™s car pulled up outside the apartment building. Debra got out, her heart heavy. Reaching the entrance, the security guard hurried over, his voice urgent.

โ€œMs. Frazier.โ€

โ€œWhatโ€™s up?โ€

โ€œYouโ€™ve got a visitor. Heโ€™s been here for over an hour,โ€ the guard said, jerking his thumb toward the reception room.

Through the glass, Debra saw Marion sitting inside.

โ€œI donโ€™t know him. Tell him to leave.โ€

โ€œOkay.โ€

The guard nodded, starting to turn away before Debraโ€™s voice stopped him. โ€œWait.โ€

โ€œMaโ€™am?โ€

โ€œLet him in.โ€

The guard blinked, clearly surprised.

โ€œMs. Frazier, if heโ€™s bothering you, we can help you get rid of him.โ€

โ€œNo, heโ€™s my boyfriend.โ€

โ€œHuh?โ€

The guardโ€™s jaw dropped. He glanced down at his phone, where a news alert blared the news of Juan and Debraโ€™s reconciliation. However, the man in the reception room didnโ€™t look like Juan. He scratched his head and went back. โ€œMr. Nichols, your wife will see you now.โ€

โ€œWhat did you call me?โ€

โ€œMr. Nichols?โ€

Marion glared at him. The guard was bewildered.

Debra led the way to the elevator, Marion following silently. The ride up was tense, the air thick with unspoken words.

Debra stepped out first, unlocking her apartment door. She looked back at Marion, who was standing at the other end of the corridor.

โ€œHow long are you planning to follow me?โ€

Marion opened his mouth and then closed it again. He didnโ€™t know how to respond.

โ€œCome in or leave. I donโ€™t need a gatekeeper.โ€

Marion finally smiled and followed her into the room. Debra went to the kitchen, and he followed, eager to cook for her. When Debra started sweeping, he put down his spatula and rushed to help.

Exasperated, Debra turned to face him. โ€œMarion, what do you want?โ€

He stood there, silent and uncertain. Debra threw up her hands, her voice tinged with frustration.

โ€œIf you canโ€™t tell me what you want, you might as well leave.โ€

โ€œDebraโ€ฆโ€

She cut him off, her hand on the doorknob. โ€œIf youโ€™re not leaving, then I will.โ€

In an instant, Marion was beside her, his arms wrapping around her tightly, as if afraid she would slip away. Debra struggled briefly before surrendering. โ€œIs there something you canโ€™t tell me?โ€

Marionโ€™s voice was low, filled with regret. โ€œIโ€™m sorry.โ€

She sighed. โ€œI wanted a simple life. Iโ€™m ready to face whatever comes our way. But you have to be open with me. Iโ€™m not some fragile thing that needs protecting. I need to know what weโ€™re up against.โ€

Marion nodded. โ€œI know.โ€
