Chapter 52
Debra, who had kept her phone on mute the entire trip, took it out and saw two missed calls from Ralph. She raised an eyebrow. โHe sure finds things out fast.โ
Randy asked curiously, โWho is it?โ
โMy uncle,โ Debra replied. โLooks like I wonโt be going back to school today. Could you guys take me to his home?โ
They understood what she meant. Ralph wanted a piece of the action.
โIโll take you there,โ Marion said.
Debra was surprised. Marion didnโt have to do this for her.
โWhat? You donโt trust my driving skills?โ
โHow could I? I just feel bad troubling you so many times.โ
Randy couldnโt hold back a laugh. โReally?โ
โIโll never forget your help,โ she said, glad to have Marion escort her.
Marion drove her to the Frazier familyโs house and even opened the car door for her. Word of this quickly reached Rosalieโs ears. Rosalie couldnโt believe it. โWho did you say? Marion Houston?โ
The servant nodded. Ralph heard and asked, โWhatโs going on? Marion is here? Weโve never offended him.โ
Marionโs notorious reputation had spread from overseas to domestic grounds. And with Calebโs endorsement, he had risen to fame in Seamar City. Ralph didnโt dare provoke such a figure. They would only do honest business.
Rosalie glared at Ralph. โDonโt be such a chicken! Marion just drove Debra back.โ
โDebra? Why was it Marion who took her back?โ Ralph was puzzled.
As Debra entered the house, Rosalie welcomed her with a warm smile. โDebra, youโre back. Come take a seat.โ
โYouโre so polite today, which is quite unusual.โ Debra sat down on the sofa casually.
Ralph looked around and asked, โDidnโt Marion come in with you?โ
โHe just gave me a ride, and I didnโt invite him for dinner.โ Debra took a sip of tea and asked, โSo, did you call me back for something?โ
Ralph hesitated, glancing at Rosalie. With a saccharine smile, she chimed in, โYou did buy that ten-billion-dollar land, didnโt you, Debra?โ
Debra nodded. โYes, I did.โ
โCan you transfer it to Ralph?โ
โItโs a sewage area. What does he want it for?โ
Ralph was about to speak, but Rosalie interrupted, โHe wants to give it to your cousin to test his business skills.โ
โWe have so many businesses, and you can just give him one. With his personality, he canโt handle such a large piece of land,โ Debra argued.
Rosalie wanted to speak again, but Ralph cut her off and got to the point. โI just received the news this morning. The land you bought has been designated as a greenbelt zone. So, Rosalie thinks itโs better to develop a new project under the Frazier Groupโs name. Debra, this is a big deal. You canโt handle it yourself. Let me take care of it.โ
