Chapter 530

โ€œWhat are you waiting for? Sign it already!โ€ Hesterโ€™s voice was sharp, venomous.

Melody, her hand trembling with anger and fear, scribbled her signature on the contract. Hester released her, shoving her roughly onto the couch. Holding the signed document like a prize, Hester stepped back, brandishing the knife.

โ€œStay back!โ€

โ€œJuan, what are you waiting for? Grab that crazy woman and get her out of here!โ€ Melody shouted, her face flushed with fury. Never before had anyone dared to threaten her like this. Juanโ€™s inaction fueled her anger. โ€œJuan, do something!โ€

Debra interjected, โ€œGrandma, you might want to reconsider. You owe her this. If she decides to sue you for conspiracy to commit assault, itโ€™ll ruin the Nichols familyโ€™s reputation all over again.โ€

The news of Debra and Juanโ€™s reconciliation had barely begun to restore the familyโ€™s image. Any scandal involving Hester would undo all the progress.

โ€œShe just held me at knifepoint, and youโ€™re siding with her?โ€ Melody fumed, her voice shaking. โ€œJuan, do you see what kind of wife youโ€™ve married? Sheโ€™s plotting against me.โ€

Juan stepped forward, grabbing Hesterโ€™s arm. Hester, by this point beyond reason, flailed wildly, trying to protect herself, the knife slashing through the air.

Debra saw the danger and yelled, โ€œJuan, let her go!โ€

But it was too late. The knife cut Juanโ€™s arm, inflicting a deep gash. Blood quickly soaked through his sleeve.

Melody cried out, โ€œJuan!โ€

Hester froze, staring at the blood in horror. The knife slipped from her hand and clattered onto the floor. โ€œNo, I didnโ€™t mean to.โ€

โ€œYou hurt Juan. Youโ€™re dead!โ€ Melody shrieked.

Debra rushed to Juanโ€™s side, examining his wound. The cut was deep, bleeding freely. His face was pale, but when he looked at Debra, his eyes softened, as if he felt no pain.

โ€œAre you out of your mind? Didnโ€™t you see she had a knife?โ€ Debra scolded, turning to Sophie. โ€œGet the first-aid kit and call an ambulance.โ€

โ€œYes, Madam.โ€

The house descended into chaos. While everyone was distracted by Juanโ€™s injury, Hester grabbed the signed contract and escaped.

Debra worked quickly, tending to Juanโ€™s wound with practiced efficiency, but the cut was too deep for her to handle alone. He needed proper medical care.

As she wrapped the bandage, she noticed Juanโ€™s gaze fixed on her.

โ€œWhy are you staring at me like that?โ€

โ€œIโ€™m just watching you care for me.โ€

โ€œI donโ€™t care about you. Iโ€™m just mad at how reckless you are.โ€

Ignoring his smirk, she searched his jacket pockets. โ€œWhere are your car keys? Iโ€™ll drive you to the hospital.โ€

Before she could find them, Juan grabbed her hand and pulled the keys from his pants pocket. โ€œNo need to rummage around. Theyโ€™re right here.โ€
