Chapter 533
Debra continued, โTake the evidence to Hester. Let her know that while she can have the evidence, the Nichols family will never give the Vargas family any more benefits, nor will they collaborate on any future projects. If Hester is still upset, she can use that evidence to threaten Melody and get the one billion dollars in compensation.โ
Joe, treading cautiously, asked, โMadam, are you trying to clear Mr. Nichols from all of this?โ
โHe had nothing to do with this in the first place. Iโm not doing him any favors,โ Debra replied nonchalantly. The truth was, even if Juan were to handle the situation himself, he would have done so even more cleanly. But Debra had no intention of letting Melody live out her days in peace. The evildoers had to pay for their actions.
Soon after, the Vargas family arrived at the Nichols familyโs house, accompanied by a lawyer. The atmosphere in the room shifted the moment Melody saw Hester walk in with her parents.
โWho let them in here? Sophie, get them out.โ
โMrs. Nichols Sr., weโve been friends for so many years. How could you send your driver to ruin Hesterโs life?โ
Hesterโs father, Jenson Vargas, was short in stature but had a fiery temper. He threw a stack of documents onto the table. The papers displayed photos of a tall, middle-aged man sneaking into Hesterโs room.
Melodyโs expression darkened. She hadnโt expected the Vargas family to get their hands on such incriminating evidence. Not only were there photos, but the documents also included recordings from the carโs dashboard camera. They captured her instructions to the driver, detailing how to tarnish Hesterโs reputation. Every piece of evidence was laid out in black and white.
Melody sneered, โAre you trying to threaten me?โ
โThis isnโt a threat,โ Jenson said coldly. โThis is about the compensation you promised Hester. She hasnโt even graduated from college yet. She spent all her time serving you, and is this how you repay her? What did she do wrong to deserve this?โ
โYour daughter is worthless. I was simply helping her achieve her dream of marrying into a wealthy family. Sheโs been freeloading in our house this whole time. Iโd say sheโs already gotten what she deserves.โ
โHow can you say that, you wicked old hag? Hester, you donโt need to be polite with her anymore. Take it out,โ Jenson snapped.
Hester wasted no time pulling out a contract. On it was Melodyโs signature, agreeing to voluntarily give Hester one billion dollars in compensation. And in the short time since receiving the contract, they had already had it notarized. The document was now legally binding, and if Melody didnโt transfer the money within three days, sheโd face legal action.
Melody was taken aback, but she refused to give in. โDo you think suing me will get you that money? Juan will not let you off the hook.โ
Jenson snorted, โThatโs funny. Who do you think gave us the evidence? If it werenโt for Mr. Nichols, do you think weโd dare come here and demand justice?โ
All color drained from Melodyโs face. โYouโre lying!โ
