Chapter 545
Sophie pulled out the box. With an impatient wave of her hand, Melody said, โJust put it up there.โ
โYes.โ
โWait,โ Debra interrupted. โLeave it here for now. Iโll be taking it to my place in a bit.โ
Melody shot a suspicious glance at her. โWhat are you planning? To live apart from Juan?โ
โIโve recently bought a new place closer to my office. Juan is fully aware of it. Weโve already discussed it. You donโt have to worry about that.โ
โBut what about this suitcase?โ
โDonโt you trust me? The contractโs right here. If anything goes missing, Iโll take full responsibility. Besides, Juan and I are remarried now. His money is mine to spend as I wish. Why would I care about such a small amount of money?โ
Melodyโs face darkened at Debraโs subtle bragging. She couldnโt understand how Juan had fallen for such a woman.
Sophie, still holding the suitcase, offered, โMadam, this suitcase is quite heavy. Should I help you take it to your car?โ
โNo need,โ Debra replied, standing up. โMy ride is already here. Iโll handle it.โ
From outside, the sound of a car engine revving could be heard. Sophie tried to help, but Melody snapped irritably, โLet her go. If she says she doesnโt need help, we wonโt bother. If some other woman shows up in her place, it wonโt be our problem.โ
Melodyโs pointed jab hung in the air, but Debra didnโt let it faze her. With the suitcase in hand, she calmly walked out. Marion got out of the car to help her load the suitcase into the trunk.
Her eyes narrowed as Melody observed the scene through the window. โWhoโs that driver? Have we seen him before?โ
โNo, I donโt think heโs one of ours. Canโt say I recognize him.โ
All Sophie could make out was a tall figure, sharp and handsome even from a distance. Melodyโs expression soured even further. โDebra and Juan have been at odds for a while now. Donโt tell me she hasnโt had a man on her side this whole time.โ
โMrs. Nichols is not that kind of person.โ
โWhy are you always defending her?โ
Melody waved her hand dismissively. โJust keep a close eye on Debra. Make sure she doesnโt do anything that could embarrass our family. If she does have someone else, I donโt care if it makes us money or costs us dearly. Juan will divorce her.โ
โWill do.โ
โAnd if you find even a hint of evidence, let me know immediately. Iโll make sure she regrets ever stepping foot in this house.โ
โUnderstood.โ
In the car, Marion helped Debra buckle her seatbelt. โEverything sorted out?โ
โYes. And I stumbled across something interesting.โ
She held up her hand, flashing the ring in front of Marionโs face. โThis used to belong to royalty. I have a feeling thereโs a big secret hidden behind this little treasure.โ
