Chapter 55 (+25 Bonus)
โCheck out the menu and see if thereโs anything you like,โ Marion said, handing the menu to Debra.
Debra casually browsed. โLetโs have everything Randy mentioned.โ
Marion chuckled, and Randy exclaimed, โSee? Marion never picks wrong! Those are all your favorites!โ
Debra looked at Marion, who remained silent.
โSorry, sir, the crab just ran out. We can offer a substitute of equal value. How aboutโฆโ The waiter trod carefully, wary of upsetting Marion.
Randy frowned. โWhatโs going on? I made a reservation in advance. How can it be unavailable?โ He prided himself on impeccable management, and this felt like a slap in the face.
โWeโre really sorry, but the crab was already reserved by another guest. The clerk made a mistake, and we could compensate you with two other dishes. Please accept our apologies, sir.โ
โIs this a matter of compensation? Who reserved it? Iโll go speak to them!โ Randy said.
Debra stopped him. โItโs okay. The crab is unnecessary. I donโt like seafood anyway.โ In her previous life, sheโd eaten crab only because Juan liked it. She didnโt actually care for seafood at all.
โJust because you donโt like seafood, Marion ordered it. This is so annoying!โ Randy was exasperated.
Debra smiled at the waiter. โPlease get us sea cucumbers instead.โ
โOkay, Iโll have the chef prepare them.โ
Debra looked at Randy, hand to her cheek. โSea cucumbers are better than crabs, right?โ
Randy relented, and Debra excused herself. โIโm going to the bathroom.โ
Debra stood and ran into the waiter carrying crab toward a private room.
โMiss, the bathroomโs just ahead,โ he pointed.
โThank you.โ
Debra, in high heels, walked to the end of the corridor and saw a large group inside the private room. It resembled a grand banquet.
โMiss, the bathroomโs here,โ the waiter reminded her.
Debra turned and saw it.
Inside the private room, Juan heard the noise outside. He looked over and caught a glimpse of a red figure.
โMr. Clark is toasting you,โ Sheila reminded him softly.
Juan hummed in response.

โCongratulations, Mr. Nichols!โ Dave Clark said.
โOh?โ Juanโs attention returned, though he was unsure what was being celebrated.
โSome time ago, Mrs. Nichols bought a piece of land at auction. Itโs been included in the green zone, and the subsidies will be billions of dollars. The landโs value is unlimited,โ Dave explained.
Juan frowned, unaware of this news, while Sheila was visibly shocked.
โMr. Clark, are you joking?โ she asked.
โHow could I be? This is all true. Mr. Nichols, you donโt know?โ Dave replied.
