Chapter 552

โ€œSo, you noticed I was provoking him.โ€

โ€œCrystal clear.โ€

Ben knew Debraโ€™s personality. Sheโ€™d never stir the pot without a reason. But every word she had spoken earlier was aimed at Edgarโ€™s weakest points. While he might have appeared outwardly calm, Ben could sense that inside, he was already fuming.

โ€œYou can tell, but heโ€™s too caught up in his pride to realize it,โ€ Debra said, a sly smile tugging at her lips. โ€œEdgar wants to take down Oscar. If he canโ€™t negotiate with me, heโ€™ll turn to someone else. Weโ€™ll give him exactly what heโ€™s looking forโ€”just enough to make him act rashly.โ€

Ben caught on to her strategy. โ€œYouโ€™re setting a trap for him.โ€

Debra nodded. โ€œTomorrow, have our people reach out to him. Someone like Edgar, with his massive ego, wonโ€™t be able to handle the humiliation for long. Heโ€™ll rush into action and try to find allies whoโ€™ll help him go against us.โ€

โ€œBut wonโ€™t he think about the consequences?โ€

โ€œIโ€™ve already spelled out the consequences for him. If Edgar cared about the fallout, he would have neglected his interests in Booton. Right now, heโ€™s entirely focused on expanding his influence in Seamar City and taking down Oscar. He canโ€™t see beyond that.โ€

Edgar had let the Odom familyโ€™s wealth give him a false sense of security. He believed that even if he made a few bad moves, their fortune would cushion the blow. But heโ€™d forgotten the golden rule of business: never underestimate your opponent. Sooner or later, his arrogance was going to cost him.

In the private room, Edgar had reached his breaking point. With a loud crash, he flipped the table in front of him, sending everything flying.

Chace rushed in, alarmed by the noise. โ€œSir. What happened?โ€

Edgarโ€™s expression was dark. โ€œGather all resources. I donโ€™t care how much it costs, but within a month, I want Oscar erased from every screen.โ€

Chace asked cautiously, โ€œSir, did the conversation with Ms. Frazier not go well? Maybe we can arrange another meeting.โ€

โ€œAnother meeting?โ€ Edgarโ€™s voice was icy, the memory of Debraโ€™s condescending gaze fueling his rage. โ€œShe never intended to negotiate with me.โ€

In his mind, Debra was just relying on Juan and Marionโ€™s influence. Yet she dared to speak to him like that. He clenched his fists, his jaw tight.

โ€œI meant what I said. Within a month, I want Oscar gone. Whatever it takes.โ€

โ€œSir, I just think we need to be cautious. If we pick a fight with the McKinney Group right now, it couldโ€ฆโ€

โ€œWhat, you think I canโ€™t take them on?โ€

โ€œNo, sir. Itโ€™s just that Seamar City isnโ€™t exactly our territory.โ€

Edgar cut him off sharply. โ€œSo what? Do you think Marion and Juan would risk going to war with the Odom family over some woman? We have an empire, Chace. Theyโ€™re not foolish enough to burn bridges with us. If it comes to a fight, I wonโ€™t lose.โ€

โ€œSirโ€ฆโ€

โ€œEnough! Do as I say. If I donโ€™t see results in a month, you can consider yourself out of a job.โ€

With that, Edgar stormed out. Chace stood frozen in place. After all these years, Edgar had never talked to him so harshly. Chace couldnโ€™t help but feel a sinking dread.
