Chapter 554 + 25 Bonus

Debra tidied her desk and said, โ€œPlease keep an eye on some of my tasks for me. Thereโ€™s nothing extraordinary; just ensure everything runs as usual. For business-related issues, consult with Marion and Randy. Most importantly, keep a close watch on the Edgar Report and every movement of the Odom family.โ€

โ€œYes, maโ€™am.โ€

The phone in her office rang. She answered, and the receptionistโ€™s voice came through.

โ€œMaโ€™am, Mrs. Nichols Sr. insists on seeing you. We canโ€™t seem to stop her.โ€

โ€œWhat does she want?โ€

โ€œWell, she didnโ€™t say.โ€

โ€œDonโ€™t let her come up. Iโ€™ll go down shortly.โ€

โ€œUnderstood.โ€

The receptionist hung up, glanced at the glamorous elderly lady, and poured her a cup of tea.

โ€œMadam, Ms. Frazier is coming down.โ€

โ€œIโ€™m her grandmother-in-law. She should come to greet me properly.โ€ Melody settled into a chair, sipping her tea with a scowl. โ€œWhat kind of tea is this? Itโ€™s terrible. Does the McKinney Group think itโ€™s acceptable to serve such poor-quality tea to their guests?โ€

Faced with Melodyโ€™s deliberate rudeness, the receptionist could only force a polite smile. Debra descended from the upper floors, dressed in a sleek suit that highlighted her competent demeanor. Melody sized her up with visible displeasure.

โ€œYouโ€™re quite slow. According to family rules, you should have been here to greet me before I even arrived.โ€

Debra remained unfazed. She took the teacup from Melodyโ€™s hands and handed it to the receptionist, saying, โ€œMrs. Nichols Sr. seems to dislike this tea. If she visits again, thereโ€™s no need to serve tea.โ€

Melodyโ€™s brow furrowed. โ€œWhat do you mean by that?โ€

โ€œNothing much. Since you didnโ€™t inform me of your visit today, Iโ€™m wondering if you are here to inspect my work. Your reach seems to be extending a bit too far.โ€

Debraโ€™s words were laced with venom, and Melodyโ€™s face tightened with irritation. She rose from her seat.

โ€œWhatโ€™s that attitude? I came here to speak with you,โ€ she paused, glancing at the bystanders. โ€œShouldnโ€™t you invite me to your office to discuss this?โ€

Debra smiled thinly. โ€œWell then, follow me.โ€

Melody trailed behind, her expression a mix of haughtiness and irritation. Once they were in the elevator, Melody continued to grumble, โ€œThe taste of the McKinney Group is lacking. This elevator is so small and shabby.โ€

Debra abruptly halted the elevator. The sudden stop threw Melody into a state of mild panic.

โ€œWhat are you doing?โ€

โ€œGrandma, let me make it clear. We should keep to our own lanes and avoid unnecessary conflict. Itโ€™s unacceptable that you make a scene here.โ€

Her cold voice sent a shiver down Melodyโ€™s spine.
