Chapter 581
Ashley bit her lip, her voice barely a whisper. โI got it through a director.โ
Debra raised an eyebrow. โYouโre still a trainee at Potter Entertainment, and you went behind their back to meet a director? Youโre breaking your contract.โ
โI didnโt have a choice. I just want to make it. I want to debut so badly. The director told me this banquet was my chance. He even gave me his card and said heโd recommended me. But I swear, I didnโt know this was what it was about.โ
Ashley had never seen anything like this before. She had no idea this so-called โopportunityโ was nothing more than a hunting ground for businessmen to indulge their desires.
โWhich director?โ
โItโs the one from the program we were working on. He said he saw potential in me and gave me his contact information. I was desperate.โ
โAnd you fell for that? Let me guess. He told you to come here with a business card, but he didnโt bother to show up himself, did he? Think about it. If this event is such a big deal, wouldnโt he want to network here himself? You were just a lamb sent to the slaughter. He sold you out, and youโre still playing along.โ Ashleyโs face went pale, the reality sinking in.
โWell, the choices you made led you here. Now, you have to deal with them.โ
Having gotten what she needed from Ashley, Debra turned to leave. Ashley reached out, but before she could call for help, a hand gripped her shoulder.
She spun around, her eyes wide with fear, as she saw Peter smiling down at her. โMiss Steele, I need a small favor.โ
A short while later, Ashley nervously approached Debra, holding two glasses of champagne.
Debraโs brow furrowed. โWhat do you want now?โ
โYou were right. I was wrong, and Iโve come to thank you and apologize.โ Ashley handed one of the glasses to Debra.
Across the room, Peter and the maids watched anxiously. When they saw Debra and Ashley clink glasses and take a drink, Peter finally exhaled in relief.
โGo and let Mr. Lowe know the jobโs done.โ
โYes, sir.โ The maid responded, hurrying upstairs to prepare a room.
Peter smirked, watching Debra from a distance. โHah. Thought sheโd be harder to deal with. Guess sheโs not so smart after all.โ
Late into the night, Drake pushed open the door to the guest room. The air was thick with the scent of perfume and wine, the dim red light casting a sultry glow over the space.
The woman lying on the bed, trembling in her white dress, had a perfect figure. Her body shook slightly as she lay there, and Drake sneered.
โIt looks like youโre not that special after all.โ He was used to women being thrown at him, either seductive or terrified. It bored him.
Still, he approached, pulling the tape off her mouth with a swift motion. Her flushed face turned toward him as she called out, โItโs so hot. Help me. I feel so bad.โ Drake froze at the unfamiliar voice.
