Chapter 585
The room fell silent.
Debra picked up the car keys on the table and said, โI have my plans. Whether Mr. Andrew Potter is sincere or has ulterior motives, as long as it helps me reach my goal, Iโll do it. From now on, Iโll handle things on my own. You two stay out of it.โ
She glanced at Marion and left without a harsh word. Marion immediately followed her. Randy and Erica exchanged uneasy glances, sensing the tension.
Randy rubbed the back of his neck, murmuring, โUh, we should probably head out too. Mr. Andrew Potter, weโll catch up later.โ He quickly grabbed Ericaโs hand and whispered, โCome on, letโs go.โ
Andrew didnโt try to stop them. Once everyone was gone, a violent cough shook his body. The butler, worried, said, โSir, youโve been stressing all night. You should get some rest.โ
Andrewโs face was pale; heโd been suppressing his discomfort. โNot yet. Someone still hasnโt shown up.โ
The butler was taken aback, but before he could ask further, Jordan, who had been lurking outside, entered. He wore a black mask and baseball cap, his face hidden.
โWhoโs there?โ the butler asked, instantly alert.
Jordan pulled off his mask and cap. โItโs me.โ
The butler was surprised. โMr. Jordan Potter?โ
Andrew dismissed the butler: โYou can leave us.โ
โUnderstood.โ
Once the butler left, Jordan immediately approached, concerned about Andrewโs condition. โYour health isnโt great. Why havenโt you called a doctor?โ
โItโs just a minor issue. Not worth bothering anyone over. I asked you to keep an eye on Debra and watch for any moves from the Lowe Group. Have you noticed anything? Drake seems interested in Debra, but Iโm worried his methods will end up hurting her.โ
Andrewโs expression was unreadable. He didnโt respond immediately.
Jordan asked, โDid you plan all of this tonight?โ
Andrewโs tone remained indifferent. โIf thatโs what you think.โ
โIโm not doubting you. Itโs justโฆโ
โIn everyoneโs eyes, the head of the Potter family will do whatever it takes to reach his goals. Iโve always wielded power to secure my position. Everything I do is calculated. Now, go. Make sure no one finds out who you are.โ
โBut tonightโฆโ
โYou ran into Debra, didnโt you?โ
Jordan pressed his lips together, silently admitting the truth.
โDebraโs smart. As long as you pretend not to know her, she wonโt expose you.โ Andrewโs fatigue was evident as he added, โGo. Donโt come back anytime soon.โ
โOkay.โ
Jordan hesitated, casting one last worried glance at Andrew before slipping out into the night.
The next morning, news broke that a Potter Entertainment trainee had been found dead. Ashley had gotten drunk and fallen into the ocean the previous night; her body washed up on the beach early that morning. Her parents stormed into the office building, demanding justice, but since she had violated company policy by sneaking out, the company bore no responsibility.
Debra frowned as she read the news.
