Chapter 591

After a sleepless night, the sky was still dark when Joe arrived to take Debra and Juan to the airport. The reality show they were filming was set on a rented island. It wasn't just one couple; each divorced pair was assigned a private apartment.

Debra and Juan were given a secluded villa. Whether due to Juan's status or not, the production team had spared no expense. While not as grand as the Nichols family home, it was a two-story villa covering a hundred square meters. The other guests were housed in separate sections to minimize encounters with Debra and Juan.

The show's requirements were simple: Debra and Juan needed to live together in the villa for at least a month. Filming could last one to two months, with producers recording everything. They had a loose script, dictating separate initial appearances in the villa. Naturally, cameras were positioned everywhere.

As Debra stepped into the courtyard, she paused. The garden, filled with blooming flowers and lush greenery, featured a vibrant parrot perched on the porch. The fresh scent of grass and flowers filled the air; it was the peaceful, idyllic setting she'd always dreamed of. This reverie was quickly interrupted by the discreetly placed cameras.

Inside, the house was warm and tastefully decorated, suggesting the producers had done their research. This wasn't just about pretty pictures; they aimed to capture the feeling of home for divorced couples.

Soon after, Juan arrived. Debra had already unpacked, claiming a second-floor room. Given their divorce, their rooms were, of course, separate. Juan, silent as ever, went to his adjacent room to unpack.

A few moments later, they emerged. They exchanged glances but remained silent, perhaps feeling the pressure of the cameras. Finally, Juan broke the silence.

"What do you want for lunch?"

"Can you cook?" Her response silenced him.

"I'll do it. You can help prep a few things."

"Sure."

They moved to the kitchen, where it quickly became clear Juan was clueless. Watching him struggle, Debra felt a pang of regret. She had no idea what made her think Juan would be helpful.

"Actually, why don't you go sit down and relax?" she suggested with a sigh.

"I can handle it," Juan insisted.

"Alright then. Start by picking these vegetables," Debra replied, giving him a small task.

"Pick?" he echoed uncertainly, staring at the vegetables as if they were alien objects.

Debra waved him off. "If you don't know how, just go find somewhere cool."

Turning to the fridge, she surveyed the show's provisions. It was well-stocked: eggs, tomatoes, and some fast food. Opting for simplicity, she pulled out two packets of pasta.

Juan quickly stepped forward. "I can handle that."
