Chapter 593

Debra took a couple of steps back and asked casually, โ€œHow about we just chat for a bit?โ€

โ€œChatโ€ฆโ€ Juan started to respond, but hesitated. He wasnโ€™t exactly the best at small talk. Still, with Debra in front of him, the only thing running through his mind was the question he always wanted to ask: โ€œWhat is going on between you and Marion now?โ€

Instead, he said, โ€œHow have you been lately?โ€

โ€œGood,โ€ Debra answered without much thought. โ€œAnd you?โ€

โ€œNot so good.โ€

Her eyebrows shot up in surprise at his blunt answer. Pausing, she glanced up at the camera and said, โ€œCut that part out. Iโ€™ll ask again.โ€

Playing it cool, she repeated the question, โ€œSo, how have you been lately?โ€

Watching her busy herself with cooking, Juan realized she was just trying to get some material for the show. He let out a soft laugh and replied, โ€œGreat.โ€

โ€œGood to hear,โ€ Debra said, turning her attention back to the stew.

The day had slipped by, and the sky would darken in a few hours. According to the production team, the night sky by the coast here was supposed to be stunning.

Later, Debra and Juan sat outside on the porch, the cool sea breeze brushing their faces. Juan thoughtfully draped a blanket over her shoulders.

Inside the production tent, the team couldnโ€™t help but smile at the peaceful scene on the monitor. One of the crew members glanced at the phone buzzing on the table and quickly called out to the director.

โ€œBoss, someoneโ€™s calling you.โ€

The director rushed over, seeing an unknown number flashing on the screen.

โ€œWhoโ€™s this?โ€

โ€œMarion Houston.โ€

The director didnโ€™t even pause before hanging up. A nearby staff member blinked in confusion.

โ€œWho was that? Whyโ€™d you hang up?โ€

โ€œSome scam call. Not worth answering.โ€

There was no way someone like Marion would ever call a nobody like him. โ€˜The scammers these days are getting ridiculous,โ€™ he thought.

At home, Marion stared at his phone, his face darkening. Randy noticed Marionโ€™s expression and cleared his throat.

โ€œSee, this is why you shouldโ€™ve let me handle it. Iโ€™ve got secretaries who couldโ€™ve made that call. You dial someone up out of the blue like that, and theyโ€™re gonna think itโ€™s a scam.โ€

Marion shot him a glare. โ€œBook me a ticket to the island.โ€

โ€œNo can do,โ€ Randy responded seriously. โ€œAndrew made it clear. Youโ€™re not allowed to fly over, no matter what.โ€

Marionโ€™s gaze grew even colder as he asked icily, โ€œWho are you more afraid of? Andrew or me?โ€

Randy swallowed hard. In terms of scheming and power, he was terrified of Andrew. But in terms of sheer physical force? Marion scared him more.

With a nervous laugh, Randy tried to reason with him. โ€œCome on, man, donโ€™t get all worked up. You trust Debra, donโ€™t you? Sheโ€™s not the type to castโ€ฆโ€

โ€œCast?โ€

Randy fumbled for better wording. โ€œUh, rekindle an old flame?โ€

โ€œRekindle an old flame?โ€

Marionโ€™s voice dropped dangerously low as his hand gripped Randyโ€™s shoulder. โ€œYou have ten minutes to get me that plane ticket, or elseโ€ฆโ€
