Chapter 595
The sky had darkened, and Juan suggested that Debra go upstairs to rest. After an hour of rest, she came back down, only to find several dishes on the table that hadn't been there before. โWhatโs all this?โ she asked, puzzled. โTry it and see if itโs good,โ he said.
In an apron, Juan looked every bit the domestic chef. Debra sat down and looked at the dishes. โFish, beef, and turkey? You made these?โ Juan coughed awkwardly, his gaze flicking toward the nearby trash can. Following his gaze, Debra saw the trash can filled with burnt food. โYou made all of this?โ Debra asked, her smile fading. โIโm not quite good at cooking,โ Juan admitted, looking embarrassed.
โWell then, just stay away and donโt waste food.โ โGot it.โ Looking at the table full of food, Debra suddenly lost her appetite. After a busy afternoon, the only thing she had made was the beef stew. The rest were takeout meals, and they had been sitting out for a while, turning cold. They barely touched the dinner before starting to clean up the table.
In the control room, the director scratched his head. โCan we edit this out?โ โWe can probably get about seven or eight minutes of usable footage,โ a staff member replied. Everyone fell into thought. Another staff member chimed in, โIf it doesnโt work out, we should just forget it. We canโt afford to mess with Mr. Nichols.โ
โHow much time until midnight?โ โFive hours.โ โLetโs wait a bit longer.โ Just then, a staff member rushed into the control room and whispered to the director, โMr. Andrew Potter sent something over, sayingโฆโ The director nodded in understanding.
Debra and Juan sat on the couch in silence. Just as Debra was about to doze off, Juan broke the silence. โWe have to get up early tomorrow. Want to rest early?โ Debra was still thinking about how to interact with Juan. If the footage wasnโt enough, they might have to reshoot the next day. She pulled out her phone and looked at the script, but it didnโt provide any specific instructions.
โDebra?โ Juan called out. Debra snapped back to reality. โWhat?โ Juan rubbed his temples in frustration. โNothing.โ โHow about we watch a movie together?โ Debra suggested, catching Juan off guard. Before he could respond, she had already turned on the TV. โWhat do you like to watch?โ she asked. Before Juan could respond, she suggested, โHow about โAbsurd Worldโ?โ
