Chapter 599
โWait, the cameramanโฆโ Debra said.
โForget about him,โ Juan responded.
Debra was baffled. โWhere did you get the money?โ Since the first day of filming, their phones had been handed in. The only phone Juan had now was issued by the production team, and it only had a few emergency contacts.
โThis car is owned by my family. We donโt need to payโโ His explanation sent Debra into a deep spiral of thought. โSince when did the Nichols family have anything to do with taxi service?โ
Not long after, the taxi pulled up to the beach. The moment it arrived, the production team members stared, bewildered. The director hurried forward, confused.
โDid we send a car for them?โ
โNope.โ
Debra and Juan stepped out, one after the other, onto the sand.
The director ruffled his hair. โWhy arenโt these two following the rules of the show?โ
โWhereโs the camera guy following them?โ
โHe called in. Said he lost them. He wonโt be here for another thirty minutes.โ
The director rubbed his temples. โIโll handle it.โ
Plastering a smile on his face, he greeted them, โMs. Frazier, Mr. Nichols, how did your first day go?โ
โNot bad,โ Debra replied, forcing the words out. It wasnโt completely a lie. They had at least spoken a few words to each other.
โManageable,โ Juan said coolly, which in his language meant, โShe didnโt make me miserable.โ
Watching them, still distant from each other, the director chose his words carefully.
โSo, hereโs the thing. Our show is all about divorced couples living together, you know. Like revisiting memories and sorting out old issues. Thatโs our main draw. So, when the cameraman gets here, we can start the next part of the filming. Just a heads-up. We would appreciate it if you avoided taking taxis. Instead, maybe use public transport, walk, or even ride bikes.โ
He looked at them, hopeful. โDoes that sound alright?โ
Debra quickly nodded. โSure.โ
Juan replied, โMe too.โ
โPerfect.โ The director clapped his hands, relieved that they werenโt difficult to deal with.
Chapter 599
Half an hour later, the out-of-breath cameraman finally arrived. When he saw the director, his face lit up with relief. Apparently, he had gotten stranded at some random bus stop in the middle of nowhere. He wouldnโt have minded taking a taxi. He just wished that next time, the couple would let him tag along.
With everything in place, the directorโs voice came over the loudspeaker.
โThe next task is to go out to sea and catch some fish. This island is famous for its rich seafood. Today, the guests will board a fishing boat and catch your dinner,โ he announced.
Debraโs brow furrowed. โI donโt like seafood.โ
The whole crew chuckled at her bluntness.
Juan turned to her and said softly, โIโll buy you something else.โ
Their interaction was captured perfectly by the cameraman. Meanwhile, across the street, hidden inside a black car, someone was watching them through a pair of binoculars.
