Chapter 607
Debra remembered that in her past life, after she married into the Nichols family, Violet had always lived overseas. It wasnโt until the fourth year of her marriage that Violet returned. The reason for her return was simple: her husband had developed a gambling addiction. Although Violet was still well-dressed, her wealth had been exhausted. Her husband sent her back to ask the Nichols family for money.
In this timeline, it was only the second year of her marriage. Her return was out of sync with the original timeline. It seemed that since Debraโs rebirth, more than a few things had deviated from their original course. And Violet was someone particularly difficult to deal with.
โYou must be Debra,โ Violet sneered, sizing her up. โYouโre not bad-looking. No wonder Juan keeps revolving around you.โ
Debraโs head was throbbing with a dull ache. She wasnโt in the mood to play verbal games with this woman. โMrs. Sosa, what do you want?โ
Violet stiffened, suspicion flashing across her eyes. โHow did you know my identity?โ
Debra realized she had spoken without thinking. It was too late to take it back now, so she calmly replied, โJuan mentioned you.โ
Though still suspicious, Violet quickly remembered the purpose of her visit. โThen you must know Iโm Juanโs aunt.โ
โYes, a distant relative.โ
A distant relative had no right to interfere in their family business, and Debraโs words made her smile falter. โI just returned to the country, and Melody told me about whatโs been going on between you and Juan. Youโve seen the news today, havenโt you?โ
โUnfortunately, I havenโt.โ
Violet was momentarily speechless, not expecting such a response.
โIf you donโt have anything else to say, Iโm going to close the door now,โ Debra said, motioning toward the door.
Violet stuck her hand out to block it. Dropping her pretense, she pushed past Debra and walked straight into the house. The bodyguards followed her in.
Debra let out a sarcastic laugh. โIs this a forced entry now?โ
โWhat? Donโt be ridiculous. Iโm Juanโs aunt. Do you think Iโd come to this dump if Melody didnโt ask me to?โ Violet spat, her voice full of contempt.
Debra could barely keep from laughing out loud. Violet was here at the behest of Melody, who didnโt want to lower herself by coming in person. Violet, unaware she was being used, had waltzed right into the trap.
Chapter 607
โJuan isnโt here. Iโm the only one living here right now,โ Debra said icily. โAre you going to leave, or should I call the police?โ
โDebra, think carefully about this,โ Violet warned. โYouโre nothing but a laughingstock right now. Youโve already divorced Juan. Whatโs the point of clinging? Melody has made it clear that youโre not getting any money. Just give it up.โ
Debra wasnโt the least bit phased by Violetโs callous attitude, which reminded her all too much of Melody.
โWho said Iโm clinging on?โ
โIf youโre not, why are you hiding Juan? Donโt you know who he is? Heโs the CEO of the Nichols Group, and youโve dragged him onto some low-class reality show. What do you think that does to our familyโs reputation?โ
Violet sounded righteous, as if she were a part of the Nichols family.
