Chapter 63
The next day, the bulletin board was surrounded by people. As Debra stepped onto campus, she sensed their strange glances. Not far away, a manโs angry shout rang out. โGo away! What are you looking at?โ Immediately, he tore something off the board.
Debra wrinkled her brow, finding Jordan in the throng. With a grim expression, he crumpled the paper in his hand. A nervous energy crackled through the crowd. Students scattered as Debra approached, stealing glances at her and Jordan.
Debra teased, โA few days apart, and your temperโs gotten worse.โ
โThis is no joke. Look at this. Can you still smile?โ Jordan tossed the crumpled paper to her.
Puzzled, Debra unfolded it. It depicted a curvaceous woman in revealing lingerie, her face unmistakably labeled with scandalous words like โcall girl,โ โstripper,โ and โusing sex to get ahead.โ
Debra glanced briefly and then shook the paper in front of Jordan. โJust because of this?โ
โOr what else? Debra, you really have thick skin, still smiling?โ Jordan was furious, but Debra remained nonchalant.
โThis photo is obviously photoshopped. And none of these accusations are true. Someone wants to manipulate public opinion to kick me out of school.โ Debra casually stowed the paper in her backpack.
Jordan frowned, remembering the last scandal when Debra was caught outside a nightclub. โDamn it, whoโs so bored? If I catch them, Iโll make sure they regret it!โ Jordan seethed.
Debra chuckled. If she hadnโt known Shelia orchestrated the last scandal, she might have wondered who had it in for her. But now, Sheliaโs hand in this incident was clear. Shelia seemed determined to force her out of Arcane Academy.
โForget it, racking your brains wonโt help,โ Debra shrugged. โItโs almost class time. Letโs not waste time here.โ
With that, Debra headed straight toward Building #2. Still angry, Jordan kicked the bulletin board so violently that the people around shuddered in fear.
During class, Sheliaโs gaze remained fixed on the bulletin board outside the window. From the podium, the professor called out to her twice without receiving a response. Finally, her tone turned impatient. โShelia! Stand up and answer the question!โ
Shelia snapped out of her thoughts, quickly standing. โMrs. Ball, Iโฆโ
โYouโve been skipping classes lately, and even when youโre here, youโre distracted. I know your grades are good, but youโre about to enter your final year. If you donโt accumulate enough class hours, you wonโt graduate!โ warned Connie Ball.
Shelia had been frequently absent recently. Given her good grades and scholarship status, the professors had been lenient. But now, her behavior was becoming intolerable, and even her essay writing was becoming careless. Met with the professorโs stern attitude, Shelia resorted to her usual tactic of bowing her head and sobbing.
