Chapter 655
Lara was concerned. โWhat about you?โ
โDonโt worry about me,โ Debra replied. โDrake wonโt do anything to me for now. Make sure you get the phone to them.โ
โI will,โ Lara promised.
Soon after, she escorted Debra to the deck. The maids began disembarking one by one. Before leaving, Lara glanced back at Debra, who gave her a reassuring look and left.
At the dock, a group of men in black suits and sunglasses stood waiting. As soon as Drake appeared, they stepped forward to greet him.
One of them said, โSir, Mr. Odom instructed me to welcome you here.โ
Drake hummed in response.
Debra was startled upon hearing the voice. It was none other than Edgarโs secretary, Chace.
She looked over and saw the Odom familyโs crests on their chests. This indicated the close relationship between Edgar and Drake.
Chace saw Debra out of the corner of his eye and froze. He hadnโt expected to see her with Drake.
โIsnโt that Ms. Frazier? What brings you here withโฆโ
Before he could finish, Drake cut him off. โDonโt ask questions you donโt need answers to.โ
Chace immediately bowed his head. โYes, my apologies for overstepping. Iโll escort you to the accommodation Mr. Odom has arranged.โ
Drake hummed, uninterested in further conversation.
Debra, trailing behind, felt her suspicion growing. They were supposed to head to Orkgate, yet here they were in Flesta. She just didnโt dare voice her doubts.
In the car, Drake spoke lazily. โIf you have questions, just ask.โ
โWhere are we going?โ Debra asked cautiously.
โYou know very well where we are. This is Flesta,โ he replied nonchalantly.
โWhat are we doing in Flesta?โ she pressed.
Edgar was currently in Seamar City, focused on dealing with the McKinney Group and Oscar. He didnโt have the time or reason to be concerned about Flesta.
She wondered if Drake was just here for fun, but it didnโt make sense. After all, even Edgar had left to search for the treasure in Seamar City.
Drake replied, โIโm tired. Weโll stay here for the night, and tomorrow morning weโll fly to Orkgate.โ
A heavy feeling settled in Debraโs chest.
โWell, I might not have much left, but Iโm still an executive at the McKinney Group. If I go missing, my boss will come looking for me,โ she said.
โIโve already had your resignation submitted to your secretary. As of today, youโre no longer in that position,โ Drake said nonchalantly.
His words caused Debra to look at him. No one knew she was the owner of the McKinney Group, not even Drake. Ben would easily see through the ruse and realize something was off. In a way, Drake had unknowingly helped her send out a signal.
Drake caught the strange flicker in her eyes. His brows furrowed as he asked, โWhy do you look so pleased?โ
Debra quickly put on an angry face. โThat position is the last thing I have. How could you just submit my resignation without telling me? Thatโs too much.โ
