Chapter 738
Drake snorted, unfazed by her sharp words. โI donโt understand what Marion sees in you,โ he said. Apart from her looks and quick tongue, he couldnโt fathom what made her special.
โOnce youโve eaten your fill, get out. Iโve arranged a room for you to rest in. Once youโve gathered your strength, Iโll take you to the casino tomorrow,โ he said.
Debra perked up at that. โWait, youโre still going to take me? But I didnโt finish cleaning the wine cellar.โ
โConsider it a special favor,โ Drake said, rising from his seat and striding toward the door. Opening it, he called out, โLara, take her to her room. I need to sleep.โ
โYes, boss,โ Lara replied, stepping in to help Debra up. โMs. Frazier, please follow me.โ
Debra cast one fast glance at Drake, noting the exhaustion etched on his face. Just before leaving, she swiped a handful of pastries from the table.
Lara led her to a neatly prepared guest room. โMs. Frazier, youโll be staying here tonight. If you need anything, just ring the bell by the bed.โ
โGot it. You can go,โ Debra said dismissively.
Lara wisely took the hint and exited, closing the door behind her. The room was simple but clean. After a quick scan for hidden cameras, Debra collapsed onto the bed, utterly drained. The show she had been putting on had taken its toll. She stared blankly at the ceiling, rejoicing that she had passed out under stress. If luck hadnโt been on her side, things wouldnโt have spelled well for her.
Drake would escort her to the casino tomorrow, and without Kale around, she could observe everything more easily and even pull some tricks. Drake probably wouldnโt even notice. With these thoughts swirling in her mind, Debra drifted off to sleep.
When she finally stirred, it was already afternoon.
โSheโs still not up?โ
โNo, boss. Should I go in and wake her?โ
Debra caught snippets of Drake and Laraโs conversation through the door as she rubbed her eyes, sitting up in bed. Memories of last nightโs chaosโshattering wine barrels, swimming in wine, scrubbing the cellar floor, and the exhausting back-and-forth with Kaleโflooded back. No wonder she felt so drained.
Drake was supposed to take her to the casino today. She couldnโt afford to miss this chance. Dragging her weary body to the door, she called out, โIโm awake. If youโve got something to say, come on in.โ
Chapter 730
The door creaked open, revealing Drake, now fully dressed in a suit. A silver lapel pin gleamed on his jacket, and a deep purple earring dangled from his left ear. If Debra didnโt know better, she mightโve mistaken him for some kind of gentleman.
โGet up. Weโre leaving,โ he said curtly, turning on his heel to exit.
Lara placed a fresh set of clothes on the bed.
Debra frowned at the outfit. โThis isnโt the one I woreโฆโ
