Chapter 741
Guests began streaming into the gambling hall. The manager tossed a headset to Debra, gesturing for her to put it on. She fumbled with the device until she managed to settle it over her ears. She had never stepped foot in a place like this before, not to mention knowing anything about gambling. Fortunately, Drake had cut her some slack by assigning her to the simplest of gamesโbetting on dice rolls.
As Debra struggled to figure out the ins and outs of the game, a middle-aged man reeking of stale alcohol swaggered into the room. Leering at her, he slurred, โAva, you look stunning today. Your waist is slimmer.โ
The manager put on an obsequious smile. โAvaโs not working tonight. This is our new dealer.โ
โA new dealer? Wonderful!โ said the man, reaching out for Debraโs wrist.
She instinctively pulled away. The manager shot her a warning glare, and she quickly adjusted her demeanor, flashing a seductive smile. โOh, I see youโre a regular who enjoys Avaโs company. Should I call her to replace me?โ
Her voice was a perfect blend of coyness and allure, and the manโs lecherous grin widened. โNah, Avaโs got nothing on you. I like you just fine.โ
Debra nearly gagged at his gross response but maintained her composure. โWell then, how about this round? Are you betting big or small?โ
โSmall. Gimme small, baby,โ he cheered, clearly reveling in the attention.
Suddenly, Drakeโs voice crackled in her earpiece. โFirst round. Bet big.โ
Debra raised an eyebrow but decided to go along with it. She uncovered the dice, revealing a small number. The man won.
โOh, congratulations. Youโre on a lucky streak tonight. How about we raise the stakes to ten thousand?โ Debra cooed.
โWhatever you say, sweetheart.โ The manโs eyes were glued to her, excitement dancing in them as he doubled down on his bet.
To Debraโs surprise, the next roll also turned up small. The manโs joy was palpable as he raked in more winnings.
Drake frowned from a vantage point upstairs. The manager leaned into his radio, urgency tinging his voice. โBoss, we canโt let this go on.โ Three rounds in, and the man kept betting on small and winning every time. His bets grew larger, and now he had amassed a small fortune.
โStop her. Get Debra out of there,โ Drake growled, frustration boiling over.
Just as the man placed a staggering bet of 50 thousand dollars, Drake descended the stairs. Before he could reach the table, Debra yelped, โOh no, you lost this time.โ
The man groaned, visibly upset that his winning streak had come to an end, but Debra wasnโt finished. โWhat a shame! I was hoping to keep playing with you,โ she added, blinking innocently.
โ50 thousand? Thatโs nothing. Hold on for a second,โ the man declared, storming off to get more chips.
Debra exhaled in relief, but her respite was short-lived. Drake stormed over, unlocked the door, and grabbed her arm. Before she could react, he had dragged her upstairs.
โMr. Lowe, youโre hurting me,โ Debra winced.
Once they were in the office, he released her, but his icy glare bore into her. โWhy didnโt you follow the orders?โ
