“Get in,” Drake shoved Debra into the bedroom. She stumbled and shot him an angry look. “Seriously, Mr. Lowe? Is this necessary?”

He had been silent the entire drive back, but the moment they arrived at the villa, his true colors emerged. His face darkened, and his voice turned to ice as he said, “If you weren’t still useful, you’d have been a dead body now.”

“I know,” Debra replied, her tone calm and steady. “Otherwise, how would I dare act so boldly in front of you?”

She leisurely made her way to the plush sofa and poured herself a glass of wine. Drake narrowed his eyes, but instead of losing his temper, he let out a low chuckle. “You enjoy yourself as if this is your home.”

“I was playing piano throughout the day, and my fingers are still numb. It’s just a glass of wine. Don’t be so stingy.”

While sipping her wine, she observed his expression and noted that he wasn’t really angry. “Since I did such a good job tonight, how about you answer me a question?”

“Shoot.”

“How much did Ralph lose at your casino? Why did you target him?”

In her past life, she had always believed Juan was behind their financial ruin, but now it became clear that the Lowe family had played a significant role in her family’s destruction.

“My casino deals with a lot of families. How can I remember every detail?”

“That may be true, but don’t tell me you didn’t specifically target him. Your family has been dominating Orkgate for years. Why do you suddenly have your eyes on Seamar City? There’s got to be more to it.”

Debra scrutinized him, hoping for any telltale sign of guilt. Yet Drake’s face remained impassive as he poured himself a glass of wine.

“The casino runs its own operations. Seamar City is always part of my plans. As for any secrets… If they’re truly secrets, do you think I’d know them?”

He was lying through his teeth. They had gone out of their way to trap Ralph, who was just a small fish in a different pond. Obviously, something larger was at stake. The Fraizer family’s downfall had left an opening for the Lowes to swoop in.

“That’s fine,” she said, standing up. “I didn’t expect you to be honest anyway.”

She glanced down at the dress she was wearing and added, “Should I return this dress to you after I wash it?”

“What?” Drake looked confused.

She explained, “This dress belongs to Miss Sharp, right? It feels wrong for an outsider like me to wear it. I should clean it and return it.”

“No need. Keep it,” Drake said, turning to the door. “Kale, take her out.”

“Yes, boss.” Kale stepped in, gesturing for Debra to follow.

In the hallway, she spotted Lara waiting for her. Lara’s eyes widened slightly when she saw the dress Debra was wearing. Debra caught the momentary shock on her face, but Lara quickly masked it with a smile. “Ms. Frazier, the hot water is ready. You should take a bath.”
