Debra walked straight to his desk. Drake frowned, ready to close his laptop, but Debra blocked him, moving to his side to catch a glimpse of what he had been watching. He quickly closed the video and frowned. “What are you up to?”

“Nothing,” she replied, and as he relaxed his guard, she quickly grabbed the laptop.

Drake stood up, his face darkening. “Debra!”

Debra reopened the video. The room’s decor mirrored one on the third floor, confirming that Drake had been monitoring. The screen displayed a man and a woman tangled on a bed. The woman looked pained, and the man was none other than Conrad.

Feigning astonishment, Debra said, “I didn’t expect you to enjoy these kinds of films.”

“Give it back!” Drake snatched the laptop from her and closed it forcefully. “What exactly are you here—”

“I just wanna know if Miss Sharp had worked on the third floor before.”

“So what if she has?”

“Well, you fought her for my sake. She must hate me to the core. With no power or influence, I can’t resist her revenge.”

“With me around, she won’t dare touch you.”

“But we can’t be together 24/7, can we? What happened last night was an example. I almost died. So, could you give me a copy of that video?”

“Why? Do you have such peculiar tastes too?”

“Of course not. I want to keep it for my safety. I can use it to keep her at bay.”

“You don’t need to worry about that. If Yvonne ever tries to kill you, I’ll make sure her video is posted all over the internet. She will be discredited. Is that good enough?”

Drake returned to his laptop and turned the sound back on, not sparing her another glance. Debra realized there was no point in staying. She stomped her foot in feigned frustration and walked out of the room.

Drake switched off the video, and Kale entered. “Boss, should we have Lara watch her?”

“No need. Since we’re working together, I won’t doubt her.” Drake, irritated by the earlier interruption, paused for a moment and added, “By the way, prepare a dress for her tonight. Make sure it covers all her injuries.”
