“Ms. Frazier, please follow me,” Kale said.

Debra followed behind him, but her attention remained riveted on Juan and Yvonne. The two laughed and chatted, their fingers dancing over the piano keys. They seemed to be lost in their own world. The crowd around them was entranced by the duet.

Debra didn’t get it. Juan was already engaged to Shelia. Yet there he was, flirting with Yvonne.

“These are the clothes Mr. Lowe requested for you,” Kale said as they entered the presidential suite on the second floor of the hotel.

Debra glanced at the gown in her hands, and a wave of realization washed over her. Yvonne had splashed water on her so that she couldn’t keep Drake company for the night. Showering, doing makeup, styling hair, and changing outfits would take at least two hours. By then, the banquet would be nearly over. Yvonne was trying to sabotage her chances of becoming acquainted with the entrepreneurs from Orkgate and the key partners of the Lowe Group.

Determined not to be outmaneuvered, Debra quickly dashed into the bathroom. She wiped off her makeup and freshened up in record time. Then she emerged in only a bathrobe.

Outside, Kale was surprised to see her like that. He quickly lowered his gaze and asked, “Is there anything else you need?”

“I’m not wearing this dress. Please prepare a neutral-style suit for me.”

“A suit?”

“Yes. I need it in 15 minutes.”

Kale immediately sprang into action, ordering someone to prepare the outfit.

Debra snatched a makeup kit from the artist, and 15 minutes later, a maid appeared with the requested suit. It was a sleek ensemble, perfectly tailored for a sharp, neutral look. Debra donned the hat, transforming herself into a dapper figure that resembled a handsome young man.

“Ms. Frazier, what are you…” Kale was stunned.

The music from the piano had faded, signaling that time was slipping away. Without a moment to spare, Debra rushed past Kale and descended the staircase.

To her relief, no one seemed to notice her disguised appearance. Meanwhile, Yvonne effortlessly slid into her place beside the now-unaccompanied Drake.

Drake regarded Yvonne, who looked almost pitiful.

“Do you know what I despise the most?” he smirked.

“What I detest most is a woman who pretends and overestimates her intelligence in front of me.”

When his hand moved away, a slow trickle of blood oozed from her wound.

“Do you think securing Juan’s deal will earn my forgiveness? I’ve made myself clear: anyone who crosses me will pay the price.”

“Drake, I’m also your woman. How can you treat me like this?” Yvonne’s eyes brimmed with tears. “Have you forgotten? You promised me I would be the hostess of the Lowe family.”
