Chapter 806
Before Marion left, his words had been crystal clear. If anything happened to Debra, William would answer for it. But seeing her now, battered and bruised, William knew he was doomed. If Marion found out, the repercussions would be catastrophic.
โQuick question,โ Debra said, breaking his train of thought. โWhat are Juan and Marion up to?โ
โJuan? Juan Nichols?โ
โYes, him.โ
โNo, I havenโt heard anything about him.โ
โThen why did he invite me to meet him at the casino tomorrow?โ
Williamโs confusion only deepened. Knowing she couldnโt get an answer, she waved it off with a sigh. โThis place is too dangerous. If you are recognized, Drake wonโt let you slip through the cracks. Thankfully, that manager who saw you is dead.โ
โIโm just here to patch you up,โ William said, focusing on her wounds. โIf we donโt treat these properly, youโre at risk for infection. You need to be extra careful these next few days. Marion told me finding evidence isnโt as important as keeping you safe.โ
Debraโs voice softened. โI know.โ She prayed for the safety of both Marion and herself.
After a long, sleepless night, Debra dragged herself downstairs the next morning. Dark circles ringed her eyes, but she found Drake already waiting for her, casually sipping his coffee.
โMorning,โ he greeted her with an easy smile.
Debra wasnโt in the mood for small talk. โIโm ready. Letโs get this over with.โ
Drake played dumb. โGet what over with?โ
โThe test. You said youโd quiz me.โ
โAh, yes. The test.โ He signaled her to sit down, and she said, โWhere should we start?โ
Drake slid a cup of coffee her way. โHave some coffee first.โ
Debra took the cup and downed it in one go. โOkay, now can we start?โ
Chapter 806
โAlright, first question. Whoโs the Lowe familyโs biggest business partner?โ
โThe Sharp family.โ
โAnd which of their businesses in Orkgate is the most profitable?โ
โThe casino?โ
โWrong.โ
โNo? Then what is it?โ
Drake leaned in, his smirk darkening. โDrugs.โ
Debraโs stomach twisted as his words sank in. That stuff was banned nationwide, yet Drake was running an empire on it.
He leaned in close and said, โRemember the night I brought you to Orkgate? I injected you with something on the plane.โ
The memory hit Debra like a wave. Her body tensed.
Drake rested his chin on his hand. โYou drank that coffee pretty fast. Didnโt it taste a little off?โ
Suddenly, Debra felt her body go weak, and her vision blurred. The room seemed to spin. Drakeโs voice turned cold. โI waited all night for you to tell me about Juanโs appointment. You let me down.โ
