Chapter 811
The shards of a once-elegant teapot scattered across the marble floor, mere inches from Melodyโs feet. Sophie rushed to her side. โMrs. Nichols Sr., are you all right?โ
Melody eyed Shelia unhappily. โI canโt understand your reluctance to prepare breakfast, but you shouldnโt just create a mess. What are you trying to do, Shelia?โ
Shelia quickly rose from the couch, her eyes brimming with tears. โThis isnโt my fault, Melody. Ever since Juan and I got engaged, heโs been distant. I canโt even reach him. You know, Iโm worried about the Nichols familyโs future. I promised you I would have a child soon.โ
Melody took a deep breath. If not for Sheliaโs status as a Blair and the promises sheโd made, Melody would never have welcomed her into the house.
โIf you canโt keep your man, thatโs your own failing,โ Melody said sternly. โJuan is in Orkgate, working for the good of this family. If you truly cared, youโd be focusing on stabilizing our stocks. Get your father on board. I want results, not empty promises.โ
โYouโre absolutely right,โ Shelia agreed hastily. โActually, Juan has already agreed to let me take over as general manager at the company while heโs away. Iโll make sure it runs like a well-oiled machine.โ
Melody nodded reluctantly. Shelia was an Arcane Academy graduate, after all. She was capable, more so than Debra. If she could contribute to the family, Melody could accept her.
As she thought, Melodyโs gaze fell upon the newspaper on the table. The headline featured Debra and Andrew entering the Potter Mansion together. Melodyโs expression soured. โThat woman has some nerve. First, she bewitched Juan, then Marion. Now, sheโs sunk her claws into Andrew.โ
โThatโs the very thing Iโm worried about,โ Shelia echoed. โDebra is such a coquette. I have reason to doubt she was already messing around with Marion back when she was with Juan.โ
Melody scowled, an idea forming in her mind. โSince youโre taking the reins, thereโs something I need you to do.โ
โAnything. Just say the word.โ
โGo to the Potter Mansion. Debra is holding a box that belongs to me. Since sheโs no longer part of the family, itโs high time she returns it.โ
Sheliaโs eyes sparkled at the prospect of confronting Debra under the pretext of reclaiming a debt. โConsider it done. Iโll retrieve that box for you.โ
With her marching orders, Shelia rushed to the company and rallied a few loyal employees. Across town in the Potter Mansion, Debra was enjoying a quiet lunch in her bedroom. A maid entered and reported, โMs. Frazier, someoneโs here to see you.โ
Debra looked up, surprise etched on her face. โWho is it?โ
It was hard to guess who wanted to see her the very next day after she escaped from Orkgate.
