She eased into the chair. Michael saw no point in it, but he knew better than to refuse her requests. He handed the newspaper to Ben. โMake it happen.โ
Ben nodded but paused at the door. Debra looked up, asking, โDidnโt I tell you to contact them? Why are you still here?โ
Ben held up the newspaper, pointing at a gaudy square in the bottom left corner. A cartoon Batman glared out, surrounded by decorative borders. The line went like this: โBringing justice to the world! Add me on WhatsApp via the QR code below and submit your articles. P.S.: Iโm the owner of New Age.โ
Debra blinked, momentarily speechless. In this day and age, this was either genius or madness.
She pulled out her phone and scanned the code. Up popped a profile, Batman staring back at her. She shook her head, half-expecting to hear a dramatic โI am Batman.โ She sent a friend request, and moments later, it was accepted.
Batman: [Who is this?] Debra: [I want to submit a story.] Batman: [Awesome. You can start.]
An excited emoji followed, ready for the latest scoop.
Debra: [Iโd prefer to talk in person. Iโm near your office. Can I drop by?]
She waited for an answer, but there was no response. She sent a follow-up question mark but received a pop-up of the message being rejected.
Debra paused, and Ben commented, โIt seems they blocked you.โ
Debra shot him a withering look, and he zipped his mouth. โGather some men. Iโm going to their office,โ she said.
Ben sprang into action, rounding up a group of security guards. They piled into vans, Debra leading the charge like a general off to battle.
