Shelia had been tied to the bed for two days. During this time, Juan hadn’t regularly brought her food or water. Her mouth was still taped shut, and she had no choice but to relieve herself on the bed. The room reeked, and she was on the brink of insanity.

Just then, she heard footsteps outside the room. Sophie tried to open the door but couldn’t. Shelia struggled, trying desperately to make a sound to alert whoever was outside, but her hopes were quickly dashed by a cold voice.

“Sophie.”

Sophie jumped, startled. “Sir, you weren’t here last night. I thought I’d come in and clean up the room.”

“From now on, no one but me is allowed in this room,” Juan said sternly.

“What about cleaning?” Sophie asked.

“I’ll take care of it myself,” Juan replied.

Sophie nodded despite her puzzlement. Remembering something, she added, “By the way, Miss Miles hasn’t been around for a few days. Should we send someone to look for her?”

“No need. I’ve already chased her away. Don’t bring her up again.”

“Understood.”

“You may go now.”

Once Sophie was gone, Juan took out the key and opened the door. The stench hit him like a wall, and he quickly put on a mask and gloves. He tore off the tape from Shelia’s mouth and poured water from a bottle into her mouth.

Shelia was a mess, gulping down the water like an animal. Before she could finish drinking, Juan shoved a mushy, disgusting substance from a lunchbox into her mouth. Shelia was starving, but the taste made her want to vomit.

“What did you feed me?”

“Slop,” Juan replied.

She retched, and he just watched impassively. Shelia tried to scream for help, but Juan slapped the tape back over her mouth. Her eyes were wide with terror. She looked at Juan pleadingly, not understanding what she had done to deserve such treatment.

Shelia had no idea what he was planning. She tried to back away, but Juan continued, “Becoming your family will save me a lot of unnecessary trouble. Every time I think about marrying someone like you, I feel sick. But knowing that you’ll pay the price for it makes me glad.”

Shelia shook her head frantically, but he went on, “Don’t worry, I won’t let you die so easily. But people who do bad things must be punished, right?”

With that, he plunged the injector into her arm. Terror amplified her pain a hundredfold. Juan withdrew the injector and watched coldly as Shelia began to convulse, falling into a state of excitement from the drug.
