Chapter 885

At the old Nichols family house, Melody stood before the guards at the entrance, her voice stern. โ€œHow long does Juan intend to keep me locked up here?โ€

โ€œAccording to Mr. Nichols, you may go out at any time, but you must be accompanied by us.โ€

Melody was furious. She was the matriarch of the family, yet she couldnโ€™t even leave her home freely. โ€œAll of you, step aside,โ€ she commanded.

Just then, Joe walked through the grand entrance. The guards quickly made way for him.

โ€œJoe, youโ€™re finally here,โ€ Melody said eagerly. โ€œWhere is Juan?โ€ He hadnโ€™t responded to her messages since yesterday. They might have their differences, but Juan was still her grandson. She couldnโ€™t believe he was ignoring her for some woman.

Joe replied, โ€œMrs. Nichols Sr., I was just going to talk to you about this. Mr. Nichols hasnโ€™t been to the office since yesterday. I checked his flight records and found that he left for overseas last night.โ€

โ€œWhat?โ€ Melody exclaimed. โ€œWhy would he go overseas out of the blue?โ€

Joe remained silent, but she got the answer. โ€œIs it because of Debra? Is she overseas?โ€

โ€œYes,โ€ Joe admitted.

โ€œRidiculous!โ€ Melody turned livid. โ€œHeโ€™s running around for a woman, neglecting our family business. How could I have raised such a grandson?โ€

Joe pleaded, โ€œMr. Nichols wonโ€™t listen to me. Could you go overseas and convince him to come back? Marion and the Eaton family are at war, and Iโ€™m afraid Mr. Nichols might do something reckless.โ€

Melody felt a chill run down her spine. She had been planning to get rid of Debra, but Juan seemed to have anticipated her moves, assigning guards to watch her day and night. Now, an opportunity finally presented itself. She said firmly, โ€œBook me the earliest flight overseas.โ€

โ€œYes, Mrs. Nichols Sr.,โ€ Joe replied, quickly leaving to make the arrangements.

In the corner, Sophie saw everything. Melody turned and caught Sophie peeking. She frowned and ordered, โ€œPrepare my luggage immediately. Iโ€™m leaving for overseas right away.โ€

Sophie looked worried. โ€œMrs. Nichols Sr., you havenโ€™t left Seamar City in decades. Itโ€™s too dangerous. Let me come with you.โ€

โ€œNo need,โ€ Melody dismissed her. โ€œI have old friends overseas. Iโ€™ll be fine.โ€

Melody gave Sophie a stern look. โ€œIf you dare tell anyone about my trip, youโ€™ll be out of a job.โ€

โ€œI wouldnโ€™t dareโ€ฆโ€ Sophie stammered, her eyes darting around.

Melody scoffed, โ€œIf it werenโ€™t for your years of service, I would have kicked you out long ago for helping Debra.โ€

โ€œMrs. Nichols Sr.,โ€ Sophie muttered weakly, โ€œMs. Frazier is a good person. You used to like her so much.โ€

โ€œGood person? Thereโ€™s no use keeping someone who refuses to listen,โ€ Melody said, waving a dismissive hand. โ€œDo as I say and donโ€™t delay my flight.โ€

โ€œUnderstood,โ€ Sophie replied reluctantly.
