Chapter 885
At the old Nichols family house, Melody stood before the guards at the entrance, her voice stern. โHow long does Juan intend to keep me locked up here?โ
โAccording to Mr. Nichols, you may go out at any time, but you must be accompanied by us.โ
Melody was furious. She was the matriarch of the family, yet she couldnโt even leave her home freely. โAll of you, step aside,โ she commanded.
Just then, Joe walked through the grand entrance. The guards quickly made way for him.
โJoe, youโre finally here,โ Melody said eagerly. โWhere is Juan?โ He hadnโt responded to her messages since yesterday. They might have their differences, but Juan was still her grandson. She couldnโt believe he was ignoring her for some woman.
Joe replied, โMrs. Nichols Sr., I was just going to talk to you about this. Mr. Nichols hasnโt been to the office since yesterday. I checked his flight records and found that he left for overseas last night.โ
โWhat?โ Melody exclaimed. โWhy would he go overseas out of the blue?โ
Joe remained silent, but she got the answer. โIs it because of Debra? Is she overseas?โ
โYes,โ Joe admitted.
โRidiculous!โ Melody turned livid. โHeโs running around for a woman, neglecting our family business. How could I have raised such a grandson?โ
Joe pleaded, โMr. Nichols wonโt listen to me. Could you go overseas and convince him to come back? Marion and the Eaton family are at war, and Iโm afraid Mr. Nichols might do something reckless.โ
Melody felt a chill run down her spine. She had been planning to get rid of Debra, but Juan seemed to have anticipated her moves, assigning guards to watch her day and night. Now, an opportunity finally presented itself. She said firmly, โBook me the earliest flight overseas.โ
โYes, Mrs. Nichols Sr.,โ Joe replied, quickly leaving to make the arrangements.
In the corner, Sophie saw everything. Melody turned and caught Sophie peeking. She frowned and ordered, โPrepare my luggage immediately. Iโm leaving for overseas right away.โ
Sophie looked worried. โMrs. Nichols Sr., you havenโt left Seamar City in decades. Itโs too dangerous. Let me come with you.โ
โNo need,โ Melody dismissed her. โI have old friends overseas. Iโll be fine.โ
Melody gave Sophie a stern look. โIf you dare tell anyone about my trip, youโll be out of a job.โ
โI wouldnโt dareโฆโ Sophie stammered, her eyes darting around.
Melody scoffed, โIf it werenโt for your years of service, I would have kicked you out long ago for helping Debra.โ
โMrs. Nichols Sr.,โ Sophie muttered weakly, โMs. Frazier is a good person. You used to like her so much.โ
โGood person? Thereโs no use keeping someone who refuses to listen,โ Melody said, waving a dismissive hand. โDo as I say and donโt delay my flight.โ
โUnderstood,โ Sophie replied reluctantly.
