Chapter 901
In the morning, Debra was leaning against the sofa, enjoying her breakfast. A maid approached her and reported, โMadam, Miss Bernard is here to see you. Would you like to meet her?โ
โYouโre sure itโs just Cathryn alone?โ Debra asked.
โYes, she didnโt bring anyone else,โ the maid confirmed.
Debraโs expression turned serious, and the maid offered, โIf you donโt want to see her, Iโll send her away.โ
Debra said, โIโll see her. Also, dismiss half of the security guards in the house, but do it discreetly. Donโt let anyone notice.โ
The maid looked confused.
Debra added, โIf anything unusual happens, just act naturally. Notify Marion and call the police if needed.โ
The maid agreed and left to carry out the orders.
Soon, Cathryn entered the room. There Debra was, lounging on the sofa, wearing a champagne-colored silk nightgown that accentuated her perfect figure. The lace trim at the chest hinted at her cleavage, making her look incredibly sexy. Even a woman would be captivated by her appearance.
The thought of Marion and Debra entwined in bed every night made Cathrynโs heart ache. She had known Marion first, and she had fallen for him first.
โMiss Bernard, what brings you here today?โ Debra asked with a faint smile.
Cathryn stepped forward. โI came to beg you to leave Marion.โ
โMarion and I are already married. Donโt you think your request is a bit presumptuous?โ Debra replied.
โBut Marion is in real danger now. Although the shareholders wonโt do anything to him, they know youโre his weakness. And my fatherโฆ On his deathbed, he entrusted me to Marion. Marion agreed. Now heโs going back on his word, and this gives others an excuse to attack him. Do you want Marion to be labeled as unrighteous?โ Cathryn said anxiously.
Debraโs smile faded. She set her teacup on the table. โSo, this is the reason youโre colluding with the other shareholders to push Marion out of his position?โ
Cathryn was momentarily speechless.
Debra continued, โYouโre just using this as an excuse to force Marion to marry you. You donโt care if he loses everything heโs worked for. Youโre just selfishly trying to possess him. You know he doesnโt love you, but you still twist his promise to your advantage.โ
โNo, thatโs not true. Marion really promised me,โ Cathryn stammered.
โWe both know Marion is not an indecisive man. I believe he promised to take care of you and out of respect for your father. But he has also made it clear that he doesnโt love you and wonโt marry you. He only promised to provide you with a comfortable life. Am I right?โ Debra said.
Her words struck a chord with Cathryn, whose face paled. โDid Marion tell you this?โ
โHe didnโt, but Iโm sure now. Otherwise, you wouldnโt be reacting so strongly,โ Debra replied.
Debra never doubted Marionโs love for her. He had given everything he had to her.
Cathryn, on the other hand, was tormented by Marionโs honesty. She wished he would give her even a sliver of hope.
