Drake stepped in. “Miss Bernard intended to make amends with Mrs. Houston, isn’t that right?”

“Yes, that’s right,” Cathryn said, her smile forced.

Liza scoffed. “Cathryn, you’re too kind. Why bother making amends with her? If you want Marion, I’ll have my dad help you.”

Debra couldn’t help but laugh at Liza’s words.

Liza glared at her. “What are you laughing at?”

“Nothing,” Debra replied, restraining her smile. “I just think your dad is amazing. He can even help snatch someone else’s husband. It seems there’s nothing he can’t do here.”

“Of course,” Liza boasted, then realized she was being mocked. “Are you making fun of me?”

“Not at all,” Debra said, her expression sincere. “I meant every word.”

Liza fumed, “This woman is infuriating. Drake, I want her out of here.”

Drake smirked but made no move to comply.

“Are you dull? Didn’t you hear me?” Liza demanded.

Cathryn quickly intervened, grabbing her hand. “Liza, please don’t. I invited Debra here as a guest. Mr. Lowe is just helping me.”

“But she…” Liza pointed at Debra, her face red with anger.

The mere sight of Debra annoyed her.

“It’s fine,” Cathryn soothed. “The estate is huge, and she’ll be out of your sight. In a few days, Mr. Lowe will send her away.”

Cathryn was afraid that Liza would kick Debra out. If that happened, all her plans would be ruined.

“Fine,” Liza relented. “As long as I don’t have to see her.”

Cathryn breathed a sigh of relief.

“Kale, take Mrs. Houston upstairs,” Drake ordered. “Make sure her room is far from Miss Eaton’s.”

“Understood,” Kale replied, turning to Debra. “Mrs. Houston, this way please.”

Debra had only intended to tease Drake, not to genuinely anger him. She quickly followed Kale upstairs to avoid any retaliation.

Drake, still irritated by Debra’s words, said, “I have things to attend to. I’ll be upstairs.”

“Wait!” Liza sulked. “Who’s going to clear the mall for me? I want to go shopping.”
