Chapter 944
Suppressing the swirl of emotions brewing inside, he asked, โYou mean, Juanโs ex-wife?โ
โYes, itโs her. She has brought nothing but misfortune to my family, and I wonโt allow her to keep deceiving Juan and ruining everything,โ she said, her voice rising with agitation.
Seeing her get so worked up, Garland advised her, โTake it easy, Mrs. Nichols Sr. This matter is tricky, and we need to think carefully.โ
โI know,โ Melody sighed. โMarion has been a thorn in your side. He even sent Liza back by force. The grudges run deep between you and him. If you were to get rid of Debra, it would be justice for all the grief theyโve caused us.โ
Garland nearly rolled his eyes. โJustice? Easy for you to say.โ He didnโt know where she got the idea of a feud between Marion and them. He believed some brainless reporters had spun the story. Now he was more convinced that the media needed an overhaul.
With that thought, he replied, โThat will take time and careful planning. But if itโs Juan you want to locate, Iโm happy to assist.โ
โThat would be wonderful,โ Melody cheered up, but then her tone took a downturn. โIโm just so concerned. With Juan away from the company for so long, I canโt imagine the mess itโs in now. What will happen to the Nichols legacy if this continues?โ
Garland groaned inwardly, โMess? What mess? Juan practically ran the company online every day like clockwork.โ
But on the surface, he kept his polite smile intact. โI canโt promise a timeline, but I assure you, Iโll dedicate every resource I have to find him. Once I do, youโll be the first to know.โ
In truth, he didnโt have any resources. He didnโt even have an assistant.
Pleased with his response, Melody said, โYouโre a reliable man, Garland. As for dealing with Debra, I think itโs better if Bert handles it. Such matters shouldnโt fall into the hands of the younger generation. Itโs unbecoming.โ
She got up, ready to leave. Garland heaved a sigh of relief and instructed Verna, โEscort Mrs. Nichols Sr. back to her room, and when my father returns, tell him that Mrs. Nichols Sr. has urgent business to discuss with him.โ
โUnderstood.โ Verna led Melody out of the room.
Garland finally relaxed. โHoly crap! That was terrifying.โ
Wiping imaginary sweat from his brow, he darted out of the study and into his bedroom.
Chapter 944
Inside, Juan hung up the phone. Garland bounded over with a grin.
โSo, how was that? Smooth?โ
โIt was adequate.โ
โWell, the goal was to get thatโฆyour grandmother out of here as fast as possible. My dad will handle the fallout. Poor guyโs probably going to need a strategy or two to fend her off. But mark my words. In less than a week, when she realizes sheโs not getting anywhere with my dad, sheโll give up and leave.โ
