Chapter 954
โShut up! I donโt need your opinion,โ Liza huffed, turning to leave.
Debra called after her, โLeave the invitation. Iโll need it in two days.โ
Liza was pissed off, knowing Debra was taunting her. Her fists clenched at her sides, but there were more pressing matters at hand. So, she bit her tongue and flung the invitation back onto the table.
Debra scoffed, seeing through her intention. โSave yourself the trouble. She wonโt see you.โ
Liza froze mid-step and turned back to face her. โHow so?โ
โIf she wanted to see you, she wouldnโt be ignoring your calls and messages,โ Debra replied nonchalantly. โIn families like ours, itโs better not to invest too much emotion. You treat her as your best friend, but she leaves you for interest.โ
โYouโre lying!โ Liza snapped, her voice trembling. โYouโre just trying to drive a wedge between us. Cathryn would never treat me like that.โ
โLetโs make a bet then,โ Debra said, her smile widening. โIf you manage to contact her before the party, Iโll admit defeat. You can vent all your anger on me, however you see fit. But if you loseโฆโ
โWhat if I lose?โ Liza asked warily, narrowing her eyes.
โYou agree to one condition of mine. I havenโt decided what it is yet, but when I do, youโll have to go along with it,โ Debra said confidently.
Liza snorted. โDonโt get wise with me. I wonโt lose to you.โ
With that, she stormed out.
Debra shook her head. โLiza is not a bad person, but her brain is a bit slow.โ
Chapter 954
Marion walked in, carrying bags of takeout. Debraโs eyes lit up the moment she spotted the logo on the bag.
โHowโd you know I was craving this place?โ she asked eagerly.
โSomeone was talking in her sleep last night and drooling all over her pillow,โ he replied with a smirk, putting the bags on the table.
โI was hungry last night,โ she said, popping a dumpling into her mouth.
Their nightly aerobic workouts left her starving and exhausted. By the time she was done, all the restaurants were closed. She could only dream of food.
โTake it easy,โ Marion said, watching her eat. โDonโt choke.โ
โI wonโt,โ she replied, sipping the coffee heโd brought her. โDid you see Liza just now?โ
โI did,โ he replied, chuckling. โI watched the whole show from the door.โ
The guards had called him when Liza showed up. Heโd rushed back, worried something serious was happening, but once he heard who it was, he relaxed and even made a detour to get Debraโs favorite food.
He asked, โWerenโt you worried Cathryn would soften when she saw Liza?โ
Debra shrugged. โNot really. If she were going to feel sorry, she wouldโve done it already. If she really saw Liza as a good friend, she wouldnโt be engaged to Drake.โ
โBut thereโs always a chance,โ Marion pointed out.
Debraโs smile turned sly. โThatโs what I have you for, isnโt it? Iโm counting on you to make sure Liza doesnโt get anywhere near Cathryn before the party.โ
โAre you asking me to cheat?โ
โBingo.โ
